Recently, Pardeep Narwal, the most successful player in Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) history, announced his retirement after going unsold in the PKL Season 12 auction. The 28-year-old was a key player for Patna Pirates, leading them to three consecutive PKL titles in his five-season run. He later played for UP Yoddhas in Season 8 and also represented Bengaluru Bulls. Narwal scored a record 1,801 raid points, averaging 9.47 raid points per match, making him the most prolific raider in PKL history.

Indian racewalkers performed well at the Austrian Racewalking Championships held in Innsbruck. Priyanka Goswami won gold in the women’s 10-kilometre race with a time of 47 minutes and 54 seconds, marking her first win of the season. In the men’s 35-kilometre event, Sandeep Kumar won silver with a time of 2 hours, 38 minutes, and 45 seconds. Ram Baboo secured bronze in the same event, finishing in 2 hours, 41 minutes, and 47 seconds. Sandeep Kumar holds India’s national record in the 50-kilometre racewalk and won bronze at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

South Africa won the Cricket- World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 title by five wickets against defending champion Australia on June 14 at Lord’s, London. This is South Africa’s first major cricket title in 27 years, sparking emotional celebrations. New Zealand won the first WTC mace in 2021 by beating India. Australia won it in 2023, and now South Africa has claimed it in 2025.The win is seen as a unifying moment for the “Rainbow Nation”, breaking a long ICC jinx since 1998.

Sift Kaur Samra and Elavenil Valarivan won bronze in rifle events.

England will host the largest-ever ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup in 2026, featuring 12 teams playing 33 matches across seven venues from June 12 to July 5. The tournament will open with England facing Sri Lanka at Edgbaston and end with the final at the iconic Lord’s stadium. The league stage is divided into two groups. Group 1 includes Australia, South Africa, India, Pakistan, and two teams from the Global Qualifier. Group 2 includes hosts England, defending champions New Zealand, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and two qualifier teams.

Recently, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched the logo, mascot, and 100-day countdown for the New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championship. The event will take place from 26th September to 5th October at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. It is the 12th edition of the World Para Athletics Championships. This will be the biggest para athletics event ever hosted in India.

Recently, India secured the hosting rights for the 2029 World Police and Fire Games (WPFG), which will be held in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Ekta Nagar in Gujarat. The event will feature more than 10,000 athletes from police, fire, customs, and correctional services across more than 70 countries. India now joins past prestigious host nations like Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, China, and the United States of America, showing its place in the global multi-sport scene.

Recently, Karnataka emerged as the top performer at the 78th Senior National Aquatic Championships 2025 in Bhubaneswar, winning 41 medals, including 16 gold ,followed by Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. Shoan Ganguly of Karnataka broke the previous National Record of 4 minutes 25.62 seconds set by Aryan Nehra in 2023 and improved the Indian best in the 200 metre Individual Medley too. These achievements highlight Karnataka’s dominance and India’s rising swimming standards.

Recently, the Union Minister for Education distributed Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) footballs under the Football for Schools (F4S) programme at PM Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) Kendriya Vidyalaya, Fort William, Kolkata, West Bengal. It is run by FIFA in collaboration with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). It aims to help educate, develop, and empower about 700 million children. In India, it runs through the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL) with help from the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and Sports Authority of India (SAI).

Recently, it was announced that the first-ever Khelo India Water Sports Festival will be held at Dal Lake in Srinagar from 21st to 23rd August. It is part of the growing Khelo India sports calendar after the first Khelo India Beach Games in Diu in May. The festival will feature five sports: kayaking and canoeing, rowing, water skiing, shikara race, and dragon boat. The event aims to broaden sports opportunities across India and make Khelo India more inclusive. This will be the fifth Khelo India event in 2025 after Winter Games, Para Games, Youth Games, and Beach Games.
