Norway skier Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo won his ninth gold medal in cross country skiing at Milan Cortina Winter Olympics 2026. He set a new Winter Games record with this achievement. The 29 year old secured his fourth gold medal of the 2026 Games. He anchored Norway team in the men 4 into 7.5 kilometre relay event. Earlier he was sharing the record with three retired Norwegian athletes. With this win, he became the most successful cross country skier in Winter Olympics history.

6th National Rafting Championship titled The Ultimate River Battle begins at Shibnote in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. Event is organised by Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department with Doda District Administration. It is being held on the Chenab River known for challenging rapids and scenic landscape. Championship aims to showcase top rafting talent and promote adventure and eco tourism. It will test endurance, teamwork and river navigation skills over four days. The event is expected to boost local economy and position Jammu and Kashmir as a major adventure tourism hub.

Athlete Anant Rana made history by completing the ‘Full Ironman New Zealand’ triathlon in Taupo, New Zealand. He finished the triathlon in 11 hours and 50 minutes, well within the 17-hour time limit. Anant Rana is 33 years old and hails from Sonari, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. He is associated with the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation. The triathlon included 3.8 kilometres of swimming, 180 kilometres of cycling, and a 42-kilometre marathon run. He completed the swimming in 1 hour 28 minutes, cycling in 6 hours 19 minutes, and the marathon in 3 hours 46 minutes.

Anahat Singh won the Women’s Singles title at the Indian Open Squash in Mumbai, retaining her crown. She defeated second seed Egyptian player Hana Moataz 3-1 in the final, dropping only one game in the entire tournament. Abhay Singh won the Men’s Singles title at the same event, defeating fellow Indian Veer Chotrani 3-0 in just 32 minutes. Abhay displayed complete control and superior shot-making to claim a convincing victory in the all-Indian men’s final.

The World Athletics Indoor Championships 2026 ended with record-breaking performances and highest quality in history. United States topped the medal table with 5 gold, 7 silver, 6 bronze (total tally 324). Event recorded highest performance score of 49,516, surpassing 2022 record. Sheetal Devi has been named ‘Para Archer of the Year 2025’ by World Archery. She is a 19-year-old para archer from Jammu and Kashmir, known for competing without arms, making her achievements exceptional. She became the first and only female armless archer to win gold at the World Para Archery Championships. She won gold in the women’s compound individual event at Gwangju, South Korea. She also won a bronze medal at the Paris Paralympics in the mixed team event.

The 8th annual Hockey India Awards was held on March 28, 2026, to honour outstanding performances in the 2025 hockey season. The Major Dhyan Chand Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred on Zafar Iqbal, a member of the gold medal-winning team at the 1980 Moscow Olympics. The junior men’s team, which won bronze at the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025, was honoured with ₹5 lakh for players and ₹2.5 lakh for support staff.

The 16th Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship 2026 starts from 1 April, in Ranchi, Jharkhand, and run until April 12. The tournament follows a division-based format to boost competition and player development. Division ‘A’ has 12 teams in four pools, with knockouts from April 9 and the final on April 12. Divisions ‘B’ and ‘C’ will be played in league formats from April 1–6 and April 1–4, respectively. All matches will take place at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium.

Asian Squash Federation named Abhay Singh as Men’s Player of the Year 2025. Anahat Singh won the top honour in the girls (junior) category. The Indian boys team won the Men’s Team Award after securing bronze at the World Junior Team Championships 2025. Previously, Saurav Ghosal and Joshna Chinappa won ASF awards in 2022.
