PM Chairs 54th PRAGATI Meeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 54th Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation (PRAGATI) meeting at Seva Teerth on 28 October 2026. The meeting reviewed infrastructure projects worth more than ₹16,000 crore across 31 States and Union Territories.

PRAGATI: Governance and project monitoring

PRAGATI is a technology-based platform for reviewing government programmes and projects and addressing public grievances. It brings together the Prime Minister, Union Government secretaries and State chief secretaries through video conferencing. The platform was launched in 2015. The 54th meeting reviewed project implementation and addressed coordination between government agencies. The Prime Minister called for timely execution and proactive resolution of bottlenecks. He also asked Chief Secretaries to hold monthly reviews with District Magistrates to identify gaps in scheme implementation and facilitate timely delivery of welfare benefits.

Infrastructure, railways and pharmaceutical manufacturing

The review covered infrastructure projects with a combined value exceeding ₹16,000 crore in 31 States and Union Territories. Railway station redevelopment was a key focus, with stations envisaged as multimodal transport hubs connecting different modes of transport. The meeting also considered progress on Bulk Drug Parks in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. Bulk drugs, also known as active pharmaceutical ingredients, are the principal components that produce the therapeutic effect of medicines. The Government of India’s scheme for promotion of Bulk Drug Parks provides support for common infrastructure facilities in such parks.

Local products and implementation reviews

The PM Ekta Malls initiative was discussed as a means of connecting local artisans and businesses with tourism and local business networks. The meeting also addressed implementation gaps and the delivery of welfare benefits through reviews involving Chief Secretaries and District Magistrates. The Prime Minister called for assessing government schemes through their outcomes for citizens as well as their budgetary outlays. PRAGATI reviews combine project monitoring, programme implementation and grievance redressal.
