India Administers Over 80 Lakh HPV Vaccinations

India has crossed 80 lakh Human Papillomavirus vaccine doses under the National HPV Vaccination Campaign. The campaign targets adolescent girls aged 14 and uses the single-dose Gardasil-4 vaccine in government health facilities across the country.

National HPV Vaccination Campaign

The National HPV Vaccination Campaign was launched on 28 February 2026 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Ajmer, Rajasthan. The programme provides the vaccine free of cost in government facilities, including Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, primary health centres, and government medical colleges.

Eligibility, Consent and Registration

The vaccination drive is voluntary and requires parental consent for eligible adolescents. Registration for the programme is carried out through the government’s U-WIN platform, which is used for immunisation-related services.

Implementation and Safety Framework

Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Odisha, and Mizoram are among the states involved in the campaign’s field-level coordination. Vaccination sites are linked to 24×7 adverse events following immunisation centres under the supervision of trained medical officers.
