The situation is worst in Assam and Uttar Pradesh, where MMR is 390 per lakh and 360 per lakh respectively. According to a survey released by Annual Survey Bulletin 2010-2011 in August 2011, the MMR of Faizabad division is 451 per lakh which is highest in the country, while Kerala has the lowest MMR of 81 per lakh.
