Department of Commerce Extends RELIEF Scheme Timelines
The Department of Commerce, Government of India, extended the timelines under Component II of the RELIEF (Resilience & Logistics Intervention for Export Facilitation) scheme on 2 October 2026. The extension was notified through Notification No. 37/2026-27 dated 30 September 2026, and the validity for eligible shipments has been extended until 31 March 2027.
RELIEF Scheme
RELIEF is an export support scheme launched on 19 March 2026 for Indian exporters facing extraordinary freight escalation, higher insurance premiums, and war-related export risks. The scheme was introduced in the context of disruptions in the Gulf and wider West Asia maritime corridor.
Component II and Risk Coverage
Component II of RELIEF provides 95% risk coverage to exporters who obtain cover from the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation for upcoming shipments to specified regions. Under the extended period, the insurance premium paid by exporters remains capped at pre-disruption levels for eligible shipments.
Eligible Cargo and Related Export Measures
Eligible cargo under the extended component includes Full Container Load, Less than Container Load, and refrigerated containers. Energy shipments are excluded from the coverage, and the scheme applies to shipments intended for delivery or transshipment.
