Startup Museum Planned in Bengaluru with Grand Egyptian Museum Architects

The Museum of Innovation, Startup & Technology (MIST) is a planned museum in Bengaluru, Karnataka, and it is legally registered as the Karnataka Technology Innovation Museum Foundation (KTIMF). The project is being developed as a public-private partnership between the UnboxingBLR Foundation and the Karnataka Department of Electronics, Information Technology and Biotechnology (ITBT).

Project Structure and Ownership

MIST is structured as a public-private partnership with a 51% stake held by the UnboxingBLR Foundation and a 49% stake held by the Karnataka ITBT Department. The museum is intended to present India’s journey in innovation, startups, and technology through a dedicated institutional framework.

Architectural Design and Selection Process

The Heneghan Peng Architects Consortium won the bid to design MIST on 21 July 2026. The consortium was selected through a two-stage global Quality and Cost-Based Selection process from six shortlisted consortia. The Dublin-based consortium is known for designing the Grand Egyptian Museum, and it includes Bengaluru-based Cadence Architects in its team.

Location and Associated Institutions

MIST and Innoverse are twin institutions being developed within the repurposed Switchgear Factory Shed at the NGEF campus in Bengaluru. Innoverse is planned as a hub for incubating startups and fostering partnerships under the Karnataka ITBT Department.
