Sikkim Presents Rs 19,215 Crore Budget for 2026-27

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang presented the State Budget for 2026-27 in the Legislative Assembly on 20 July 2026. The budget size is Rs 19,215 crore, with a net expenditure of Rs 18,455 crore after recoveries.

Budget Structure and Financing

The budget includes Rs 11,733 crore for revenue expenditure and Rs 5,896 crore for capital expenditure, excluding loans and advances. The state plans to finance the budget through its own revenues, transfers from the Government of India, and borrowings.

Sectoral Allocations and Welfare Measures

The state government has earmarked Rs 2,460 crore for Centrally Sponsored Schemes. The budget also includes infrastructure development and social welfare measures as major spending areas.

Health and Education Provisions

The 2026-27 budget provides for statewide Human Papillomavirus screening for about 1.5 lakh women aged 30 to 65 years. It also includes the operationalisation of Sikkim’s first Renal Transplant Programme at STNM Hospital and the start of the Sikkim Government Medical College at Sochakgang with an annual intake of 100 MBBS students.
