Delhi Tops NITI Aayog’s Electric Mobility Index

Delhi ranked first in the India Electric Mobility Index (IEMI) 2025 with an overall score of 84. The index was developed by NITI Aayog in collaboration with WRI India and assesses electric mobility across transport electrification, charging infrastructure, and research and innovation.

India Electric Mobility Index 2025

The India Electric Mobility Index is a composite index for measuring the readiness of States and Union Territories for electric mobility. It uses three themes with fixed weightages: transport electrification progress at 50%, charging infrastructure readiness at 30%, and EV research and innovation status at 20%.

Top Performers in the Index

Delhi improved from 77 in the previous edition to 84 in IEMI 2025. Maharashtra scored 78 and Karnataka scored 73, and both remained among the top three performers in the overall ranking.

EV Research and Innovation Status

Delhi scored 94 in the EV Research and Innovation Status category, which was the highest score in that theme. The category covers research activity, innovation capacity, and ecosystem support for electric vehicles.
