Telangana Celebrates Saddula Bathukamma Festival

Telangana’s nine-day Bathukamma festival concluded with Saddula Bathukamma on 18 October 2026. Thousands of women gathered at Tank Bund in Hyderabad for the final procession and immersion of floral arrangements. The procession began at 4 p.m. from the Martyrs’ Memorial and moved towards Tank Bund.

Bathukamma Festival

Bathukamma is a floral festival observed in Telangana during the Hindu month of Ashwayuja, which generally falls in September or October. The festival extends over nine days and coincides with the Navaratri period. Women arrange seasonal flowers in concentric layers to form a conical structure called Bathukamma, sing traditional songs and gather around it. The flowers used include tangedu, or Cassia auriculata, and gunuka, or Celosia. The festival’s final day is known as Saddula Bathukamma. Floral arrangements are carried in procession and immersed in local water bodies.
