BHASHINI Shilpi Session Held in Kathmandu

The Digital India BHASHINI Division organised the BHASHINI Shilpi developer session at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, Nepal, on 31 August 2026. The session was held under the Digital India Corporation and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, and focused on Language AI and multilingual digital services.

BHASHINI and Language AI

BHASHINI is India’s national language technology platform for speech and text-based digital services. The platform works through application programming interfaces, or APIs, that support translation, speech recognition, speech synthesis, and other language-processing functions.

Developer Session in Nepal

The Kathmandu session brought together local developers, technology practitioners, students, and innovators from Nepal. Participants were introduced to BHASHINI APIs and developer resources through the framework of “Develop with BHASHINI”, “Solve with BHASHINI”, “Scale with BHASHINI”, and “Innovate with BHASHINI”.

Institutional Framework and Related Engagements

Shri Amitabh Nag, Chief Executive Officer of the Digital India BHASHINI Division, addressed the session. The programme was organised by the Digital India BHASHINI Division under the Digital India Corporation, which functions under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

In parallel, the Digital India BHASHINI Division hosted the international BHASHINI SANGAM Workshop at the Embassy of India Auditorium in Kathmandu. The workshop was linked to multilingual public services and bilateral technology collaboration.

On 19 August 2026, the Digital India BHASHINI Division also held the BHASHINI Rajyam Workshop: Sikkim Chapter in Gangtok. The workshop focused on voice-first artificial intelligence applications in regional digital governance.
