Tamil Nadu to Introduce TN-ARIVU Curriculum from 2027-28

Tamil Nadu will introduce the TN-ARIVU curriculum from the academic year 2027-28 in government schools. TN-ARIVU stands for Analytical thinking, Reasoning, Innovation, Venture and entrepreneurship, and Upskilling, and it will include artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.

TN-ARIVU Framework

The TN-ARIVU curriculum has been divided into three stages. ARIVU Foundation will cover Classes I to V, ARIVU Discovery will cover Classes VI to VIII, and ARIVU Edge will cover Classes IX to XII.

School Education Initiatives in Tamil Nadu

The School Education Department placed 31 new initiatives in the Assembly with a total estimated outlay of ₹44,527 crore. These initiatives include measures linked to artificial intelligence, sports, and school-level skill development.

Digital Learning and Student Support Schemes

TN PAL is an AI-powered Personalised Adaptive Learning programme for Classes VI to VIII. It will be launched in 500 government middle schools at an estimated cost of ₹70 lakh.

The Mathichudar Scheme has been allocated ₹18.01 crore for 2026-27 to assess and improve conceptual understanding and higher-order thinking skills among students of Classes VI to XII. The Vetripathai Scheme has been allocated ₹22.36 crore for coaching, mock tests, and guidance for national-level entrance examinations in 172 government higher secondary schools.

Sports and Co-curricular Measures

The PLAY initiative will reserve one school period every day for sports, arts, and co-curricular activities. The state government will also introduce one no-school-bag day every month in schools.

Fifty government high and higher secondary schools will be upgraded as Sports Plus institutions at a cost of ₹2.34 crore. These schools are intended to support training for state-level and international-level sportspersons.
