PM Modi Inaugurates Param Pragya Supercomputing Facility at IIT Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Param Pragya, an AI-powered high-performance supercomputing facility, at the Sonipat Campus of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi on 8 August 2026. The inauguration took place during the 57th Convocation Ceremony of IIT Delhi, where the Prime Minister was the chief guest.

Supercomputing and Artificial Intelligence

Param Pragya is a high-performance computing facility designed for artificial intelligence, data science, advanced computing, and interdisciplinary research. Supercomputers are computing systems built to process large volumes of data and perform complex calculations at high speed.

IIT Delhi Convocation Details

More than 3,000 students graduated at the 57th Convocation Ceremony of IIT Delhi on 8 August 2026. The institute conferred degrees on 587 doctoral scholars, and the graduating batches included the first-ever students of B.Des., Executive MBA, M.Sc. in Biological Sciences, and MA in Culture, Society, Thought.

PM Modi presented IIT Delhi’s major academic honours, including the President’s Gold Medal, Director’s Gold Medal, Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal, and Perfect Ten Gold Medals.
