Karnataka Plans Tumakuru Industrial Node Expansion
Karnataka has earmarked 1,736 acres for the Tumakuru Node of the Bengaluru-Chennai Industrial Corridor. The project targets ₹7,000 crore in investment and more than 88,000 jobs, with completion scheduled for 2027.
Bengaluru-Chennai Industrial Corridor
The Bengaluru-Chennai Industrial Corridor is one of India’s major industrial corridor projects. It connects industrial nodes across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and parts of the National Capital Region-linked logistics network through planned manufacturing and transport infrastructure.
Tumakuru Node: Land Use and Progress
The Tumakuru Node has recorded 30% physical progress and 20% financial progress. Jindal Aluminium has been identified as the anchor investor and has received 151 acres of land.
Under the land allocation plan, 300 acres have been reserved for a Japan Industrial Township, 200 acres for micro, small and medium enterprises, and 41 acres for institutional use. The node has been planned for sectors such as food and beverages, textiles and apparel, electronics, chemicals, general engineering, and logistics.
Industrial Corridor Governance
The project update was placed before the third meeting of the Apex Monitoring Authority of the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust. The meeting was chaired by the Union Finance Minister, and the trust functions as the implementing body for industrial corridor projects in India.
