Archery World Cup: India Reaches Women’s Recurve Final

The Indian women’s recurve team defeated South Korea 5-1 in the Archery World Cup Stage 2 at Shanghai, China, on 7 May 2026 and entered the final. The team included Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhakat and Kumkum Mohod.

Women’s Recurve Team Event

The recurve bow is the only archery discipline included in the Olympic Games. A recurve team event in international archery usually consists of three archers, and each match is decided by set points. South Korea has won 10 Olympic gold medals in women’s archery and remains one of the strongest teams in the recurve format. India’s win over South Korea was its fourth victory against the South Korean women’s recurve team in international competition.

Archery World Cup Format

The Archery World Cup is organised in stages across different host cities, and Stage 2 was held in Shanghai in 2026. The competition includes individual, team and mixed team events in recurve and compound archery. China was the second-seeded team in the women’s recurve event, and India was scheduled to face China in the final on Sunday. The Indian women’s team reached the title match after a 5-1 semifinal result.

Men’s Recurve Team Result

The Indian men’s recurve team included Tarundeep Rai, Dhiraj Bommadevara and Yashdeep Bhoge. The team lost 2-6 to Bangladesh in the opening round on Thursday and exited the event early.
