Defence Ministry Notifies 6th Indigenisation List of 405 Items

The Department of Defence Production (DDP) under the Ministry of Defence notified the sixth Positive Indigenisation List (PIL) on 18 August 2026. The list contains 405 defence items and carries an estimated domestic business potential of Rs 3,070 crore.

Positive Indigenisation List

The Positive Indigenisation List is a policy instrument used by the Ministry of Defence to identify items that must be sourced from domestic manufacturers. It is linked to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative and aims to reduce dependence on imports in defence procurement.

The sixth list includes 389 items connected with Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) and 16 items linked to the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). The items cover components, spares, and raw materials used in defence production.

Platforms and Systems Covered

The notified items include parts for major air and land platforms such as the Advanced Light Helicopter, Light Utility Helicopter, Su-30MKI aircraft, Tejas Light Combat Aircraft, T-72 tanks, T-90 tanks, and BMP-II infantry combat vehicles. The list also covers parts for missile systems such as Konkurs-M, Invar, and MRSAM.

Defence electronics in the list include radars, sonars, and satellite communication systems. High Explosive Anti-Tank ammunition is also among the items reserved for domestic sourcing.

SRIJAN Defence Portal and Industrial Access

The SRIJAN Defence Portal provides item-wise details and indicative indigenisation timelines for domestic suppliers. The portal is used by Indian industry and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to identify procurement opportunities in defence manufacturing.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced the notification on social media and stated that the list will expand opportunities for Indian industry and domestic investment.
