France Honours Narayana Health Founder Devi Shetty

On 5 November 2026, France conferred the Knight of the National Order of Merit on Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, founder and chairman of Narayana Health. Marc Lamy, Consul General of France in Bengaluru, presented the honour at Narayana Health City.

Recognition for pandemic support

Shetty and Narayana Health were recognised for supporting the French Consulate and the wider French community in Bengaluru during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their assistance included vaccination initiatives and logistical support. Narayana Health described Shetty’s contribution as reflecting “generosity, availability and commitment”.

Established on 3 December 1963 by President Charles de Gaulle, the National Order of Merit recognises distinguished civilian and military service by French citizens and foreign nationals. It is France’s second-highest national distinction, below the Legion of Honour. The order has five grades; Knight, awarded to Shetty, is the entry-level grade.
