Delhi Launches Cashless Medical Facility for DJB Pensioners

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched a cashless medical facility for more than 50,000 Delhi Jal Board pensioners and their family members in New Delhi on 5 October 2026. The facility was launched under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan and provides treatment and medical tests through a single-window system.

Delhi Jal Board Pensioners’ Healthcare Facility

The Delhi Jal Board is the statutory body responsible for water supply and sewage services in Delhi. The new facility covers retired DJB employees, family pensioners, and their dependants who receive pensions through the board.

The system allows cashless access to emergency, planned, and non-emergency treatment at empanelled hospitals. It also covers medical tests, which are part of the approved healthcare package under the new arrangement.

Cashless Treatment and Reimbursement System

Under the earlier process, pensioners had to pay medical expenses first and then apply for reimbursement. The new arrangement removes the upfront payment requirement and replaces it with a cashless model.

A single-window system is used for access to treatment and tests. Such systems are administrative mechanisms that combine multiple service steps into one process for beneficiaries.

Launch Event and Administrative Context

The launch took place at the Kedar Nath Sahni Auditorium on 5 October 2026. The event was attended by Water Minister Parvesh Verma, DJB Vice Chairman Satish Upadhyay, and Municipal Corporation of Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi.
