Cabinet approves ₹2.79 trillion for rabi MSPs, green energy and Delhi traffic system
The Union Cabinet approved a package of ₹2,79,157 crore on 30 September 2026 for higher Minimum Support Prices for Rabi crops, the Green Energy Corridor Phase-III scheme, and an Intelligent Traffic Management System for Delhi. The decisions cover agricultural procurement, power transmission for renewable energy, and urban traffic management.
Minimum Support Price for Rabi Crops
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved higher Minimum Support Prices for all six mandated Rabi crops for the 2027-28 marketing season. The estimated payout to farmers is ₹90,962 crore.
- Safflower received the highest absolute increase of ₹675 per quintal.
- Rapeseed and mustard received an increase of ₹413 per quintal.
- Lentil, also called masur, received an increase of ₹390 per quintal.
- Barley received an increase of ₹136 per quintal, gram received ₹83 per quintal, and wheat received ₹25 per quintal.
Green Energy Corridor Phase-III
The Green Energy Corridor Phase-III scheme has a total project outlay of ₹1,86,405 crore. The scheme aims to strengthen India’s Intra-State Transmission System for evacuation of up to 135 GW of renewable energy by FY 2032-33. The scheme includes 50 GWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems. The total Central Financial Support for the scheme is ₹54,082 crore.
Intelligent Traffic Management System for Delhi
The Intelligent Traffic Management System for Delhi has an estimated cost of ₹1,789.52 crore, which is rounded to ₹1,790 crore. Delhi Police will implement the project in 42 identified traffic corridors in three phases over 24 months. The project includes five years of operation and maintenance. Its features include AI-enabled signals, real-time congestion detection, automated enforcement, and priority movement for emergency vehicles.
