Anurag Jain Appointed CEO of NITI Aayog

On 22 July 2026, the Centre appointed Anurag Jain as the Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog for a period of two years. Jain is a 1989-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, and the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment.

NITI Aayog: Institutional Profile

NITI Aayog stands for the National Institution for Transforming India and functions as the Government of India’s policy think tank. It was established on 1 January 2015, replacing the Planning Commission, which was created in 1950. The Prime Minister of India serves as the Chairperson of NITI Aayog.
