Yogesh Patel, an eight-time Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Gujarat, died on 2 June 2026 at the age of 79. He died in Vadodara after a cardiac ailment and a prolonged illness, and he had been admitted to Sterling Hospital two days earlier.
Political Career in Gujarat
Yogesh Patel served as a legislator for 36 years and was elected to the Gujarat Legislative Assembly eight consecutive times from 1990 to 2022. He represented the Raopura constituency five times in 1990, 1995, 1998, 2002 and 2007, and the Manjalpur constituency three times in 2012, 2017 and 2022.
Ministerial Role and Constituency Work
Patel held the office of Minister of State for Narmada and Urban Housing in the government led by then Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. He was known in Vadodara politics by the nickname “Kaka” and was associated with local issues and development projects in the city.
