The 2nd edition of the Mango Magic Festival was held in Seattle, United States, to promote Indian mangoes in the US market. More than 100 importers and representatives of major retailers, including Costco Wholesale, participated in the tasting event. Seven premium Indian mango varieties were showcased, including Alphonso, Kesar, Banganpalli, Himayat, Langra, Dussehri, and Rajapuri. The initiative was organized by the Consulate General of India in Seattle. India is the world’s largest producer of mangoes, producing over 26 million metric tons annually with more than 1,000 varieties.

e-Jagriti, the flagship digital consumer grievance redressal platform of the Department of Consumer Affairs, received the Silver Award at the National Awards for e-Governance (NAeG) 2026. It was launched in 2025 by Department of Consumer Affairs. The platform integrates four legacy systems: OCMS, e-Daakhil, NCDRC CMS, and CONFONET into a single AI-enabled, paperless platform. e-Jagriti enables consumers to file and track cases online and access consumer justice from anywhere in India and abroad. Since its launch, it has facilitated over 2.29 lakh consumer cases and achieved a disposal rate of over 90%.

Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh launched the NZP Saathi App at the National Zoological Park. The NZP Saathi App is a smart digital zoo guide available on Android and iOS. It provides interactive digital maps, smart navigation to animal enclosures & facilities and thematic tours such as Express Tour, Family Tour, Grand Zoo Tour, and My Tour. The initiative aims to improve visitor convenience and promote digital transformation at the National Zoological Park.

Recently, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) organized STPI Tech Summit 2026: India’s Next Leap in New Delhi on its 35th Foundation Day. Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) is a premier Science & Technology organization established in 1991. It functions under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Its primary objective is to promote software exports from India. It facilitates software development, exports, and compliance with customs and foreign exchange regulations.

Kirthai-II Hydroelectric Project has been revived in Jammu & Kashmir after remaining stalled for several years. It is a 930 MW hydropower project planned on the Chenab River. The project is located in Kishtwar district, Jammu & Kashmir. It is a run-of-river hydropower project. The planned reservoir capacity is 51.26 million cubic metres.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is celebrating “10 Years of PMSMA – A Decade of Care” from 9 June 2026. Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) was launched on 9 June 2016. It is a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW). The scheme aims to ensure safe pregnancy and healthy motherhood through free and quality antenatal care (ANC) services.

World Pest Day is observed every year on 6 June. It aims to raise awareness about the role of the pest management industry in protecting public health, food safety, and the environment. The year 2026 marked the 10th anniversary of World Pest Day. The theme for 2026 is “Defending Health Across Borders: The Global Power of Pest Management.”

Bhakra Dam recently came into the news after the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) detected an outward tilt in its main wall and commissioned an emergency study. It is a concrete gravity dam built across the Sutlej River. The dam is located near Bhakra village in Bilaspur district, Himachal Pradesh, close to the Punjab-Himachal border. It is the highest straight gravity dam in the world with a height of about 207.26 metres. It is Asia’s second tallest dam, after the Tehri Dam.

The Uttar Pradesh Government recently launched ‘Project Ganga’ to ensure last-mile digital connectivity in rural areas. The project aims to expand access to digital education, telemedicine, e-governance, skill development, and technology-based employment opportunities. Under the initiative, a statewide network of Digital Service Providers (DSPs) will be established. The government plans to provide high-speed internet connectivity to nearly 20 lakh families across the state. The initiative is expected to generate over one lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy recently released the report ‘Solar PV Potential of India: Floating Solar’, the first national assessment of floating solar energy potential. The report, prepared by the National Institute of Solar Energy, estimates that India has the potential to develop about 102 GWp of floating solar energy on reservoirs, lakes, and other water bodies. India’s current installed solar power capacity stands at nearly 158 GW, including around 600 MW of floating solar projects. Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha, and Telangana have the highest floating solar potential due to their large number of water bodies.
