India’s first flex-fuel passenger vehicle was launched by Maruti Suzuki in New Delhi. The vehicle was launched by Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri and Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. Flex-fuel vehicles can run on ethanol-petrol blends ranging from E20 to E100. The initiative supports cleaner mobility, energy security, reduced crude oil imports, and increased ethanol usage. The move is expected to benefit farmers, promote biofuels, and reduce vehicular emissions.

The Global Business Research Conference (GBRC) 2026 was held at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade campus in New Delhi. The theme of the conference was “Managing Business Amidst Worldwide Turbulence.” The event brought together academicians, policymakers, and industry experts to discuss business strategies in an uncertain global environment. Discussions focused on India’s growing global economic role, particularly in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and international trade.

e-Jagriti, the flagship digital consumer grievance redressal platform of the Department of Consumer Affairs, received the Silver Award at the National Awards for e-Governance (NAeG) 2026. It was launched in 2025 by Department of Consumer Affairs. The platform integrates four legacy systems: OCMS, e-Daakhil, NCDRC CMS, and CONFONET into a single AI-enabled, paperless platform. e-Jagriti enables consumers to file and track cases online and access consumer justice from anywhere in India and abroad. Since its launch, it has facilitated over 2.29 lakh consumer cases and achieved a disposal rate of over 90%.

The first-ever sea shipment of botanical-infused, ready-to-cook millet functional foods from Karnataka was exported to New Zealand. The 1-metric-tonne consignment was flagged off on 3 June 2026. The export was facilitated by Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority. The products were developed by Infini Agrotek LLP. The initiative promotes India’s shift from exporting raw grains to value-added functional foods.

Recently, the Punjab Forest Department prepared a ₹5.36-crore development plan for the Jhajjar-Bachauli Wildlife Sanctuary. It is located in Rupnagar district, Punjab. The sanctuary lies near the Sutlej River in the foothills of the Shivalik Range. It is characterized by dry deciduous forests.

The “Evolving Landscape of Digital Inclusion in India” report 2026 was released by the National Council of Applied Economic Research. The report highlights persistent digital divides despite India’s internet user base crossing 1 billion by 2025. The report identifies a device divide, with 95% of households owning mobile phones but only 8% owning computers or laptops. A connectivity gap remains, as 27.5% of households, particularly in rural areas, still lack internet access. About 20.4% of households require external assistance to access digital services. The report recommends expanding affordable broadband, strengthening digital literacy, supporting older adults through assisted services, and addressing gender-based digital inequalities.

The Gyan Bharatam Survey has recently mapped over one crore manuscripts across India, marking a major step in preserving the country’s documentary heritage. The Gyan Bharatam Mission is a national initiative aimed at surveying, documenting, conserving, and digitally preserving India’s vast manuscript wealth. It is implemented under the Ministry of Culture. The mission covers manuscripts written on palm leaves, birch bark, and paper in Sanskrit, Persian, and various regional languages. It focuses on digital preservation, cataloguing, accessibility, and dissemination of manuscript knowledge.

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands recently entered the Guinness World Records by creating the world’s tallest underwater human stack at Swaraj Dweep. The record was achieved on 3 May 2026, when a team of divers formed an underwater human tower measuring 22.3 metres (73.16 feet). The feat required exceptional coordination, balance, buoyancy control, and teamwork among the divers. Building and maintaining a human pyramid underwater is significantly more challenging than on land due to water currents and buoyancy effects. The achievement has brought international recognition to Swaraj Dweep.
