Uttar Pradesh Sets Diyas World Record in Ayodhya

Ayodhya witnessed a grand spectacle during Deepotsav 2025, as it illuminated the night with a record-breaking display of lamps. The event, which celebrated the city’s rich cultural heritage, drew thousands of devotees and achieved remarkable feats.

World Record Achievements

Deepotsav 2025 in Ayodhya set two Guinness World Records. The first record was for lighting an unprecedented 26,17,215 oil lamps, transforming the city into a sea of lights along the sacred Saryu River. The second record was for the largest number of participants, totalling 2,128 priests and devotees, simultaneously performing the Maa Saryu Aarti. These records were verified through drone technology and official certification.

Celebration Showcases

The Deepotsav celebration was marked by a vibrant atmosphere, with devotees chanting and temples adorned with lights. A stunning laser and light show at Ram ki Paidi, where Lord Rama is believed to have attained Nirvana, was a focal point of the event. The festivities included a captivating Ram Leela performance and a spectacular drone show, enhancing the spiritual and cultural experience for attendees. Fireworks further added to the dazzling display, creating a memorable visual spectacle.

Significance and Impact

The Deepotsav celebration, organised by the Department of Tourism, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and the District Administration, showcased Ayodhya’s spiritual and cultural brilliance on a grand scale. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasised the symbolic victory of truth and the enduring struggle of Sanatana Dharma, linking the celebration to the construction of a grand temple in Ayodhya.

Growth of Deepotsav

Since its inception in 2017, Deepotsav has grown significantly in scale and impact, with each year surpassing the previous in the number of lamps lit. From 1.71 lakh lamps in 2017 to over 26.17 lakh in 2025, the festival has become a symbol of prosperity and cultural vibrancy .
