Telangana Launches Family Register Initiative

Telangana issued G.O.Ms. No. 172 on 25 July 2026 to create a statewide electronic Family Register and to introduce the Family Register Certificate as a citizen service on the MeeSeva platform. The register will use data mainly from the Food Security Card database maintained by the Civil Supplies Department.

Family Register Certificate

The Family Register Certificate is a document linked to family composition and is intended for citizens, especially Food Security Card holders. The register will record names, relationship to the head of the family, age, date of birth, gender, Aadhaar number, and present address.

Identification and Application Process

Each family unit will receive a Family Register Identification Number, and this number will be the same as the ration card number. A major member of the family can apply for the certificate through MeeSeva centres, the online portal, or the mobile application, and the prescribed service charge is ₹62.

Processing Time and Legal Status

Applications for the Family Register Certificate are expected to be processed and delivered within two working days from the date of receipt. The government order states that the certificate does not create, extinguish, or determine any right, title, or interest in property, and it does not determine legal heirship or confer rights to claim government scheme benefits.
