The Indian archery team won four medals at the Archery World Cup 2025 Stage 1 held in Auburndale, Florida, United States of America from 8 to 13 April 2025. India secured one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals, finishing fourth in the overall medal tally behind Mexico, China, and the United States of America (USA). Rishabh Yadav and Jyothi Surekha Vennam won the gold medal in the Compound mixed team event by defeating Chinese Taipei’s I-Jou Huang and Chieh-Lun Chen. The Indian men’s Recurve team of Dhiraj Bommadevara, Tarundeep Rai, and Atanu Das won silver after losing to China. Dhiraj Bommadevara also won bronze in Men’s Recurve by defeating Spain’s Andres Temino. Rishabh Yadav, Abhishek Verma, and Ojas Deotale won bronze in Men’s Compound team event.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty recently received the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award for their outstanding achievements in badminton. The pair reached the No. 1 rank in the Badminton World Federation rankings in 2023 and won the Asian Games gold medal in Hangzhou. The Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award was originally established as the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 1991–92 and renamed in 2021. It is India’s highest sporting honour, given for the most exceptional performance by a sportsperson over the last four years. Only performances in recognized international events are eligible for consideration. The award includes a ₹25 lakh cash prize, a medal, and a certificate of honour, with typically one award given each year.

The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-19 Football Championship 2025 takes place in Yupia, Papum Pare District, Arunachal Pradesh from May 10, 2025. Six countries are taking part in the tournament, which aims to promote youth football in South Asia. Group A includes Bangladesh, Bhutan, and the Maldives, while Group B has India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. Recently, L.R. Srihari from Tamil Nadu became India’s 86th Grandmaster (GM) in chess. He crossed the required 2500 Elo rating in May 2023 at the Dubai Open. He earned his first Grandmaster norm at the Sixdays Budapest Grandmaster Round-Robin in August 2023, and the second at the 2023 Qatar Masters. After nearly a year and nine tournaments, he finally achieved his third and final Grandmaster norm at the ongoing Asian Individual Championships in Al-Ain, Abu Dhabi.

India topped the medal table at the first Junior International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup 2025 held in Suhl, Germany. India won 3 gold, 4 silver, and 4 bronze medals, finishing ahead of the People’s Republic of China. The Suhl meet started on May 19 and was the first Junior ISSF World Cup of 2025. A total of 638 athletes from 59 countries participated in the event. The next Junior ISSF World Cup will be held in New Delhi from September 24 to October 2, 2025.
