Russia supplied 13 billion USD worth arms to India in last 5 years

A report recently released by the Government of Russia states that the country supplied 13 billion USD worth of arms to India in the last five years. Apart from this, India has placed 10 billion USD worth of military equipment orders with Russia. With this, India becomes the biggest defence buyer of Russia. India accounts for 20% of Russia’s defence trade. During the Aero India 2023 recently held in Bengaluru, Russia showcased more than 200 of its weapon samples.

India-US

India has been maintaining its trade ties between US and Russia in a diplomatic way. With the US, India is now planning to launch a new defence innovation roadmap. Also, India is trying to buy F-35 fighter jets from the US. The defence trade with the US increased recently. In 2022, the India-US defence trade stood at 21 billion USD. Though India started its journey of defence with Russia’s help, the US is one of its major defence partners of India today. It is essential to maintain a neutral stand with the world powers.
