The Department of Legal Affairs is organising the 8th BRICS Heads of Prosecution Services Meeting in New Delhi. The two-day virtual meeting aligns with India’s BRICS theme: “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” It aims to strengthen cooperation among BRICS prosecution services and promote stable, fair, and predictable legal frameworks. World Brain Day is observed every year on 22 July. The theme for 2026 is “Brain Health: Access for All”. It is observed by the World Federation of Neurology (WFN) to raise awareness about neurological disorders. The campaign highlights that over 3.4 billion people worldwide live with neurological conditions. The five focus areas are Equity, Early Intervention, Prevention, Local Access, and Global Action, aiming to improve access to brain healthcare and promote policy action.

CLOVES Syndrome Awareness Day is observed annually on 3 August to spread awareness about this ultra-rare congenital disorder. CLOVES stands for Congenital Lipomatous Overgrowth, Vascular Malformations, Epidermal Nevi, and Spinal/Skeletal Anomalies. It is an ultra-rare disease, with only about 200 identified cases worldwide. The day aims to support affected families, promote early diagnosis, and encourage medical research.

Alaboi Ron Smriti Divas was observed in Kamrup, Assam, to commemorate the 357th martyrdom anniversary of the Ahom warriors. The day honours the Ahom soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Battle of Alaboi fought on 5 August 1669. The programme was organised by the Directorate of Archaeology, Assam, in collaboration with the Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture Department, Kamrup District Administration, and the Saraighat Journalists’ Forum.

World Biofuel Day is observed every year on 10 August to promote awareness about biofuels and renewable alternatives to fossil fuels. Biofuels are produced from renewable biological materials such as agricultural waste, crop residues, sugarcane, used cooking oil and other biodegradable resources. Unlike petrol and diesel, which are derived from finite fossil fuels, biofuels can be produced repeatedly from renewable sources. Biofuels can help reduce greenhouse-gas emissions and air pollution and support the transition towards cleaner energy.
