Globally, more than 727,000 people die by suicide every year, and suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death among 15–29 year olds. India launched the first National Suicide Prevention Strategy in 2022 aiming to cut suicide mortality by 10% by 2030. National programmes include Tele-MANAS (Tele Mental Health Assistance and Networking Across States), DMHP (District Mental Health Programme), RKSK (Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram), and Manodarpan for student mental health support.

Citizens are encouraged to share locally nutritious recipes on MyGov and with #Local4Poshan, promoting traditional healthy diets. The initiative is part of the Poshan Abhiyaan, targeting stunting, undernutrition, anaemia, and low birth weight in the first 1,000 days. International Day of Sign Languages is celebrated on 23rd September every year. Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar, attended a programme in New Delhi organised by the Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre. Winners of the 8th National Indian Sign Language Competition were also felicitated. The United Nations General Assembly declared 23rd September as this day to raise awareness of sign language. This year’s theme was “No Human Rights Without Sign Language Rights.”

Uttar Pradesh will host the 19th National Jamboree of Bharat Scouts and Guides from 23-29 November in Lucknow’s Vrindavan Scheme. The first Jamboree in India was held in Hyderabad in 1953; UP hosted the fourth edition in Prayagraj in 1964. Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a gated Tent City with world-class facilities will accommodate 35,000 participants. The event aims to channelise youth energy and promote global brotherhood. The word Antyodaya comes from Sanskrit: “Antya” (poorest/last) and “Udaya” (rise), symbolizing upliftment of the weakest sections of society. India will host the World Seafood Congress (WSC) 2026 in Chennai, marking the first time the biennial event is held in India.
