India assumed the Chair of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) from the outgoing chair France.
GPAI is an association of 25 member countries, including the US, the UK, EU, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, and Singapore. India joined GPAI in 2020 as a founding member.

Tamil Nadu has launched the ‘Tamil Nadu Elephant Death Audit Framework’ to document reasons for elephant deaths for better accountability.
According to media reports, out of the 131 elephant deaths recorded in Tamil Nadu’s forest divisions between January 2021 and March 2022, only 13 were human-induced. The framework will improve transparency and facilitate more credible comparisons of cause of mortality.

The 29th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, which was held in Bangkok, Thailand, under the theme of ‘Open, Connect and Balance.
As the chair of APEC, the goal of Thailand is to spread the use of its flagship environmental initiative, the ‘Bio-circular-green economy model’, throughout APEC. Next year, the host of the summit is the US.

The 4th edition of Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue (IPRD) has been inaugurated in New Delhi on the theme of “Operationalising the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative”.
IPRD is an apex level international annual conference of the Indian Navy. The National Maritime Foundation is the knowledge partner and chief organizer of the event.

The Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution launched the ‘Guidelines to combat fake online reviews and ratings’.
The guidelines are aimed at companies like Google, Facebook, Amazon as well as travel sites and food delivery apps that depend on reviews to validate products and services. The guidelines aim to make the online market and e-commerce more authentic and less misleading for users.

The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is celebrating 50 years of Manipuri cinema. Ten Manipuri films are screened at IFFI-Goa under the Special Golden Jubilee Cinema package.
Deb Kumar Bose directed the first Manipuri film ‘Matambi Manipur’ which was released in 1972. Since then, April 9 is celebrated as birth anniversary of Manipuri cinema.

The Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, EAC-PM has issued a working paper titled ‘Why India does poorly on global perception indices: Case study of three opinion-based indices’.
It says that the decline in India’s rankings on a number of global indices is due to the problems with the methodology used in these opinion-based indices. The Paper has analysed – Freedom in the World Index, V-DEM indices, and EIU Democracy Index.

The Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) of Odisha has set up night squads that will help people sleeping alongside roads and will shift them to Shelters for Urban Homeless (SUH).
Sambalpur has four shelters for the homeless people. As per the Municipal Corporation, the program was started to ensure that no one sleeps under the open sky on winter nights

Navies of India and Oman conducted exercise ‘Naseem Al Bahr’ off the coast of Oman. The Indian Navy’s guided missile stealth frigate, INS Trikand, offshore patrol vessel, INS Sumitra, and Maritime Patrol Aircraft, (MPA) Dornier, participated in the 13th Edition of the exercise.
The Indian Navy (IN) – Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) bilateral exercise ‘Naseem Al Bahr’ (Sea Breeze) had three phases: harbour phase, sea phase and debrief.
