At COP27, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced USD 33 million to provide communities at risk of climate-prone disasters (cyclones, droughts, and floods) with access to effective early warning systems.
USAID is partnering with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and national authorities in vulnerable areas to scale up early warning systems.

‘World Philosophy Day’ 2022 is celebrated on the third Thursday of November by NESCO across the world.
It highlights the value of philosophy for the development of human thought, for each culture and for each individual. To celebrate World Philosophy Day 2022, UNESCO and Le Fresnoy – National Studio of Contemporary Arts organised a symposium and exhibition on the theme ‘The Human of the Future’ at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

North Korea launched the ‘Hwasong-17’ intercontinental ballistic missile. It is also dubbed as the Monster missile. The Hwasong-17 is North Korea’s biggest missile yet. It is also the largest road-mobile, liquid-fuelled intercontinental ballistic missile in the world.

Retired bureaucrat Arun Goel has been appointed as an Election Commissioner ahead of the assembly election in Gujarat.
Arun Goel will join Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Anup Chandra Pandey in the poll panel.

At the opening ceremony of the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi was honoured with the Indian Film Personality of the Year 2022 award.
IFFI Goa began with a opening ceremony attended by Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.

India assumed the Chair of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) from the outgoing chair France.
GPAI is an association of 25 member countries, including the US, the UK, EU, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, and Singapore. India joined GPAI in 2020 as a founding member.

‘World Fisheries Day’ is celebrated on November 21 every year to demonstrate solidarity with all fisher folk, fish farmers and stakeholders.
It started in 1997 where ‘World Forum of Fish Harvesters & Fish Workers’ met at New Delhi leading to formation of the ‘World Fisheries Forum’ with representatives from 18 countries.

The 4th edition of Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue (IPRD) has been inaugurated in New Delhi on the theme of “Operationalising the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative”.
IPRD is an apex level international annual conference of the Indian Navy. The National Maritime Foundation is the knowledge partner and chief organizer of the event.

The Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution launched the ‘Guidelines to combat fake online reviews and ratings’.
The guidelines are aimed at companies like Google, Facebook, Amazon as well as travel sites and food delivery apps that depend on reviews to validate products and services. The guidelines aim to make the online market and e-commerce more authentic and less misleading for users.

Lophopetalum tanahgambut is a newly identified tree species belonging to the genus Lophopetalum in the cosmopolitan family Celastraceae.
It is a large top canopy tree that grows to 40 m tall, with a trunk diameter at breast height of up to 1.05 m. The new species is only known from peat swamp forests of the Indonesian island of Sumatra.
