In the Asian Airgun Championship 2022 being held in Daegu, South Korea, India’s Shiva Narwal won gold in the Men’s 10-meter air pistol.
In the women’s 10m air pistol youth competition, Kanishka Dagar, Yashsavi Joshi, and Harnavdeep Kaur clinhed gold. Arjun Babuta and Mehuli Ghosh win gold in 10m air rifle mixed team.

Assam is organising the 400th birth anniversary celebration of legendary general of Assam Lachit Barphukan.
In the Battle of Saraighat in 1671, under the leadership of General Lachit Borphukan the Assamese army registered a victory against the Mughals. He was a 17^th century war-hero from Ahom dynasty. The state is constructing Lachit Barphukan Maidan in Jorhat and erecting the Alaboi battle war memorial.

Notes:
The Bihar government signed an MoU with the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) to help artists, handicrafts and ethnic arts to get international exposure.
The MoU will help Bihar to send group of artists to other countries as part of cultural exchange initiative by the Central and the state government. Bihar is famous for Madhubani and Mithila paintings, traditional folk dances and music.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first greenfield airport in Arunachal Pradesh- Donyi Polo Airport in Hollangi, Itanagar.
The foundation stone for the airport was laid by the Prime Minister in February 2019. The Donyi Polo Airport will be the third operational airport in Arunachal Pradesh, taking the total airport count in the northeast region to 16.

India communicated strong objections to discussions under a special UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) effort known as the Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture.
The Joint work has sought to expand efforts to reduce emissions of greenhouses gases to the agriculture sector. The draft decision under the Koronivia Joint Work mentions mitigation or the efforts to reduce emissions, multiple times.

Notes:
At COP27, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced USD 33 million to provide communities at risk of climate-prone disasters (cyclones, droughts, and floods) with access to effective early warning systems.
USAID is partnering with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and national authorities in vulnerable areas to scale up early warning systems.

Notes:
Uda Devi Pasi  was an Indian women freedom fighter who participated in Indian Rebellion of 1857, against the British East India Company.
She was a member of the women’s squad of Wajid Ali Shah, the sixth Nawab of Awadh.  Awadh or Oudh is the present day Uttar Pradesh. She was a leader who managed to mobilise people including Dalit women to take up arms against the British.

Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal announced India’s first National Centre of Excellence for Green Port and Shipping (NCoEGPS), for providing greener solutions.
The Centre aims to develop a regulatory framework and alternate technology adoption road map for Green Shipping. India has been selected as the first country under the IMO Green Voyage 2050 project to conduct a pilot project related to Green Shipping.

Notes:
The ‘2021 Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development’ was presented to Pratham, an NGO functioning in the field of education.
Former Vice-President Hamid Ansari presented the award, in recognition of Pratham’s work in ensuring quality education for children of the country, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Notes:
Red Bull driver and World Champion Max Verstappen clinched his 15th Grand Prix win of 2022 in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which is the final race of the Formula 1 2022 season.
Charles Leclerc finished second in the race, followed by Sergio Perez. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton failed to finish the race because of a mechanical failure. Sebastian Vettel announced his retirement from F1, making the Abu Dhabi GP the final race of his career.
