The US Food and Drug Administration approved the world’s first therapy for prevention of type 1 diabetes.
The monoclonal antibody teplizumab, which will be marketed under the brand name Tzield, is a biologic therapy that delays the onset of type 1 diabetes.

The Union government announced that regional air connectivity levy charged from commercial airlines under the UDAN scheme will be increased to ₹10,000 per departure from January 1, 2023.
Currently, the levy under the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme is ₹5,000 per departure. The levy will further increase to ₹15,000 from April 2023 till April 2027.

The ‘Women Entrepreneurship Day’ is observed every year on November 19 by the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization.
The first-ever Women Entrepreneurship Day has observed in around 144 nations in the year 2014. It commemorates women on the front lines doing their part to break the outdated stereotypes.

The Egypt COP27 Presidency launched the ‘Sharm El-Sheikh Adaptation Agenda’ in partnership with the UN Climate Change High-Level Champions, and the Marrakech Partnership.
Through the agenda, Egypt plans to mobilise USD 140-300 billion in adaptation funding from both public and private sources.  Reecntly, the countries at COP-27 decided on establishing a framework for achieving the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA).

Ace tennis star Novak Djokovic clinched a record-equaling sixth ATP Finals singles title win, beating Norway’s Casper Ruud in the final match.
He has now equalled the record of Swiss legend Roger Federer, who has six ATP title wins. Ruud was the first Scandinavian to contest in ATP Finals since Stefan Edberg of Sweden.

Ayush Ministry announced setting up of Academic Chair in Ayurvedic Science at Western Sydney University, Australia.
The Chair is set up at the University’s NICM Health Research Institute, with tenure for a period of three years, to undertake research activities in Ayurveda, including herbal medicine and yoga.

The Supreme Court noted the absence of a law governing the appointments of election commissioners and chief election commissioners a disturbing trend.
The court flagged Article 324 of the Constitution, which talks about the appointment of election commissioners, and said it does not provide the procedure for such appointments. Since 2004, no chief election commissioner has completed the six-year tenure.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) cut its gross domestic growth forecast for India for FY23 to 6.6 per cent from 6.9 per cent.
The reasons are higher medium-term global uncertainty and slowing domestic economic activity. India is set to be the second-fastest growing economy in the G-20 in FY23, despite decelerating global demand and the tightening of monetary policy.

Navies of India and Oman conducted exercise ‘Naseem Al Bahr’ off the coast of Oman. The Indian Navy’s guided missile stealth frigate, INS Trikand, offshore patrol vessel, INS Sumitra, and Maritime Patrol Aircraft, (MPA) Dornier, participated in the 13th Edition of the exercise.
The Indian Navy (IN) – Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) bilateral exercise ‘Naseem Al Bahr’ (Sea Breeze) had three phases: harbour phase, sea phase and debrief.

Notes:
Tata Consumer Products Ltd is set to acquire Bisleri International for up to ₹7000 crore. Bisleri is the largest packaged drinking company in India.
The Tata Group runs its consumer business under Tata Consumer Products Ltd (TCPL) which also sells packaged mineral water under the brand Himalayan.
