The International Financial Services Centres Authority, IFSCA and Reserve Bank of India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for collaboration in the field of regulation and supervision of regulated entities.
The MoU facilitates technical cooperation and exchange of information. The agreement aims to strengthen the safety, stability and strength of financial ecosystems. IFSCA is a unified regulator responsible for development and regulation of financial products, financial services and financial institutions in IFSCs.

Notes:
Audit Diwas is celebrated on November 16 to mark the origin of the institution of CAG and the contribution it has made to the governance, transparency and accountability.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the second Audit Diwas celebrations. The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) plays a critical role as external auditor at various UN organisations.

Notes:
The Japanese Self-Defence Forces and the US Military launched a joint military exercise, titled ‘Keen Sword’ in Japan.
This exercise involves around 26,000 personnel from the Japan’s maritime and air self-defence forces. As many as 10,000 US soldiers from the ‘Space Force’ are also involved in this exercise. The multilateral exercise ‘Malabar 2022’, between the navies of India, Japan, the US and Australia also commenced.

Dun & Bradstreet India launched a suite of solutions called D&B ESG (environmental, social, and governance) Intelligence.
It has been launched to help organisations become ESG-compliant by conducting self-assessments and third-party ESG reports on suppliers, vendors and other supply chain partners. SEBI has mandated top 1,000 businesses by market capitalization to file a Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR).

Notes:
The World Health Organisation (WHO) launched new guidelines to improve survival and health outcomes for babies born early (before 37 weeks of pregnancy) or small (under 2.5kg at birth).
The guidelines advise that skin to skin contact with a caregiver also known as kangaroo mother care should start immediately after birth, without any initial period in an incubator. World Prematurity Day is marked every year on 17th November.

At COP27, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced USD 33 million to provide communities at risk of climate-prone disasters (cyclones, droughts, and floods) with access to effective early warning systems.
USAID is partnering with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and national authorities in vulnerable areas to scale up early warning systems.

World Toilet Day is observed every year on November 19 to mark the invention of toilets and raise awareness of the sanitation crisis.
World Toilet Day is celebrated in partnership between the UN-Water and governments around the world. This year the theme for World Toilet Day is ‘Making the Invisible Visible’.

Notes:
As per a recent a study by researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, the frequency of extreme weather events such as floods and heatwaves is projected to rise manifold in India in the future due to climate change.
The research team studied the period from 1951 to 2020 to quantify India’s risk of sequential extremes. The study found that the risk will increase under the warming climate and variability in the El Nino-Southern Oscillation (ENSO).

Notes:
Nearly 200 countries at the UN climate summit COP-27 agreed to set up a “loss and damage fund” to support poorer countries which are affected by climate impacts.
‘Loss and damage’ refers to costs being incurred from climate-fuelled weather extremes or impacts, like rising sea levels. The fund covers the cost of damage that poorer countries cannot avoid or adapt to.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Karmayogi Prarambh Module, an online orientation course prepared for government employees.
He also launched the programme of providing appointment letters to more than 71,000 youth, under the Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Mela.
