India is set to send helicopter unit to UN peacekeeping operations in Mali known as Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).
Mali is facing with a crisis as several countries have withdrawn or announced plans to withdraw from it. Bangladesh and Pakistan will be sending an armed helicopter unit each to the operation. India does not have troops deployed with MINUSMA and 18 Indians worked with it as of September 2022.

India’s first-ever Night Sky Sanctuary is being set up by Council of Scientific & Industrial Research under Union Ministry of Science & Technology, in Ladakh’s Hanle.
The proposed Dark Sky Reserve will be located at Hanle as a part of Changthang Wildlife Sanctuary. It will boost Astro-tourism in India and will be one of the world’s highest-located sites for optical, infra-red, and gamma-ray telescopes.

Since 2015, November 26 is observed as Constitution Day to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly in 1949.
Earlier, the day was observed as Law Day. During the programme, the prime minister will launch new initiatives under the e-court project including the ‘virtual justice clock’, ‘JustIS’ mobile app 2.0, digital court and ‘S3WaaS’ websites.

The Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar inaugurated a Digital India startup hub at the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) centre at Davanagere, Karnataka.
This is the 63rd STPI centre in the country and the fifth in the Karnataka. The Centre has high-speed data communication facilities and other amenities and services required for export of software and services.

On its Founder’s day, Canara Bank launched an Electronic Bank Guarantee (e-BG) in partnership with National E-Governance Services Limited (NeSL).
Canara Bank offers an API based digital workflow of Bank guarantees which will eliminate physical issuance, stamping, verification and paper-based record maintenance of Bank Guarantees. This will improve sustainability and transparency.

Geneva-based World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) released the World Intellectual Property Indicators (WIPI) report.
As per the report, global intellectual property filings of patents, trademarks, and designs-reached record levels in 2021 are driven largely by increases from Asian countries of India, China, and South Korea.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched successfully PSLV-C54 carrying Oceansat-3 also known as Earth Observation Satellite-6, and 8 nano-satellites.
The satellite was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The eight nanosatellites include ISRO Nano Satellite-2 for Bhutan (INS-2B), Anand, Astrocast (four satellites), and two Thybolt satellites.

Paralympic medallist Avani Lekhara received the ‘Para Sports Person of Year’ award at the Turf 2022 and India Sports Awards of FICCI.
Former Ranji cricketer Sarkar Talwar was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement of the Year award. Shrey Kadyan was recognized as the Special Sportsperson of the Year. Odisha was recognized as the best state for promoting sports. The All India Chess Federation won the National Sports Federation of the Year Award.

Notes:
The World Health Organisation has renamed monkeypox as mpox. It cited concerns that the original name of the animal disease could be construed as discriminatory and racist.
The UN health agency said in a statement that mpox was its new preferred name for monkeypox. Both monkeypox and mpox would be used for the next year while the old name is phased out.
