‘World Fisheries Day’ is celebrated on November 21 every year to demonstrate solidarity with all fisher folk, fish farmers and stakeholders.
It started in 1997 where ‘World Forum of Fish Harvesters & Fish Workers’ met at New Delhi leading to formation of the ‘World Fisheries Forum’ with representatives from 18 countries.

India’s Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced a National Suicide Prevention Strategy.
The country’s first of its kind policy has time-bound action plans and multi-sectoral collaborations to achieve reduction in suicide mortality by 10% by 2030. It seeks to establish effective surveillance mechanisms for suicide within the next three years, establish psychiatric outpatient departments in all districts within the next five years, and to integrate a mental well-being curriculum in all educational institutions within the next eight years.

Australian Parliament has passed the country’s Free trade Agreement (FTA) with India, announced Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
Once implemented, the trade agreement will provide duty-free access to the Australian market for over 6,000 sectors of India, including textiles, leather, furniture, jewellery and machinery. Australia offers zero-duty access to India for about 96.4% of exports from day one.

The Indian Space Research Organisation has been exempted from a central inspection and approval regime for production of stable propellants for area rockets.
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has exempted ISRO from operation of provisions of the explosives rules, 2008, for manufacturing, storage, use and transportation of Solid Propellant for Space Rockets falling under UN Class 1 (Explosives).

The 3rd Global High-Level Conference on Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR) was organised in Muscat, Oman.
Union Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar represented India. 22 participants from more than 15 countries attended the conference. The event also included the launch of Multi-Stakeholder Partnership Platform on AMR by the Quadripartite Organizations.

Union Power Ministry has launched a scheme for the procurement of aggregate electricity of 4,500 MW for five years
The scheme has been launched under SHAKTI (Scheme for Harnessing and Allocating Koyala Transparently in India) policy. PFC Consulting Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PFC Ltd, has been designated as the nodal agency by the Ministry of Power.

Former athlete P T Usha has been elected to become the president of Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
P T Usha won 23 medals, including 14 gold, in the Asian Championships from 1983 to 1998. She also finished fourth in the 400-metre hurdles final at the 1984 Olympics. She is also known as the ‘Payyoli Express’.

The Central government received a huge dividend tranche of Rs 5,001 crore from the Maharatna company ONGC.
This was announced by Secretary in the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) Tuhin Kanta Pandey. The government had earlier received about Rs 690 crore from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) as dividend tranche.

Chennai headquartered space-tech start-up Agnikul, has set up India’s first-ever launchpad that will be operated by a private player.
The facility was inaugurated by S. Somanath, Chairman, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Secretary, Department of Space at Satish Dhawan Space Center (SDSC), Sriharikota. This is the first exclusive launch pad for a private launch vehicle.

Notes:
A panel headed by former Rural Development Secretary Amarjeet Sinha, has been set up to recommend structural and other reforms required under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA).
The panel is to suggest measures to reduce regional imbalance by offering more opportunities to the most deserving states.
