Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the annual youth festival ‘Sonzal-2022’ at the University of Kashmir.
The festival is an opportunity for young artists to showcase their talents and ‘Sonzal’ provides them with a platform to achieve the dream of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshta Bharat’.

During the COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, a broad coalition of 18 governments joined together to create a new high-level group ‘Ambition on Melting Ice on Sea-level Rise and Mountain Water Resources’.
The group is led by the two polar and mountain nations of Chile and Iceland. The ‘Ambition on Melting Ice’ group aims to ensure impacts of cryosphere loss are understood throughout the world.

Paralympic medallist Avani Lekhara received the ‘Para Sports Person of Year’ award at the Turf 2022 and India Sports Awards of FICCI.
Former Ranji cricketer Sarkar Talwar was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement of the Year award. Shrey Kadyan was recognized as the Special Sportsperson of the Year. Odisha was recognized as the best state for promoting sports. The All India Chess Federation won the National Sports Federation of the Year Award.

Notes:
India has sent a team of three geologists to Argentina to assess potential lithium deposits and possible acquisition opportunities in the country.
The team comprises of one geologist each from Mineral Exploration Corporation Ltd (MECL), KABIL (Khanij Bidesh India Ltd) and the Geological Survey of India (GSI). India does not have any lithium resource and the mineral is primarily imported. Lithium is the key component of rechargeable batteries used in EVs.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has approved the appointment of Sundararaman Ramamurthy as the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
Ramamurthy is currently the Chief Operating Officer-India at Bank of America. He was associated with the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) in various roles till 2014.

The Union Ministry of Rural Development launched the month-long campaign named ‘Nai Chetna’, as a people’s movement.
The campaign is launched by the Ministry of Rural Development to make women, especially in rural areas, aware of their rights and mechanism available to help redress their grievances. It was launched on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25th November 2022.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is set to commence its retail CBDC pilot project from December 1, in four cities including Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru and Bhubaneswar.
The pilot shall be subsequently extended to Ahmedabad, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Kochi, Lucknow, Patna, and Shimla. Users will be able to transact with ‘e₹-R’ through a digital wallet offered by the participating banks and stored on mobile phones/devices.

The 7th edition of Global Technology Summit is being held in New Delhi. It is India’s annual flagship event on Geo-technology and is co-hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs and Carnegie India.
The inaugural session of the Summit would be a conversation of External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on geo-digital and its effects. The theme for this year’s Summit is ‘Geopolitics of Technology.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has set up a 16-member FPI Advisory Committee (FAC) chaired by Hasmukh Adhia, Former Finance Secretary. It will also include H R Khan, former deputy governor, RBI and R Subramanian, Executive Director, RBI.
The 20-member committee on Review of Takeover Regulations will be headed by retired Justice Shiavax Jal Vazifdar. The social stock exchange (SSEs) advisory committee will be headed by R Balasubramaniam, Chairman, Grassroots Research and Advocacy Movement (Graam).

Notes:
The World Trade Organisation (WTO) released its Goods Trade Barometer. As per the report, Global trade growth is likely to slow down in the closing months of 2022 and into 2023.
The reasons are shocks related to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, high energy prices, inflation, and monetary tightening in major economies.
