The United States has recently launched its National Security Strategy (NSS). All U.S. Presidents are mandated by the ‘Goldwater-Nichols Department of Defense Reorganization Act of 1986’ to bring out their NSS.
The strategy aims to communicate the executive’s vision of national security to the legislative. Joe Biden’s administration also released the National Defense Strategy, the Nuclear Posture Review and the Missile Defense Review.

The Spain U-17 team defeated Colombia in the final match to win the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup title.
Spain is the also the first team to defend the title in the history of the competition. Colombia, in its 98 years of professional football, played in the FIFA World Cup final for the first time.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the ‘Mangarh Dham ki Gaurav Gatha’ programme at Mangarh Dham in Rajasthan.
He paid homage to the sacrifices of unsung tribal heroes and martyrs of the freedom struggle. Mangarh is considered as a shared heritage of the people of Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. On 15th November, the country is going to celebrate Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas on the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda.

India presented a cheque of USD 2.5 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
This is the second tranche of the pledged USD 5 million annual support, to serve the schools, health centres and other basic services run by the organisation to support Palestinian refugees.

According to a report by the India Exim Bank, India has recently become a major exporter of defence products and will be able to meet Africa’s needs in maritime, aerospace, and defence sectors.
According to the report, Mauritius, Mozambique, and Seychelles together accounted for 6.6% of India’s arms exports to Africa between 2017-2021. India was the 23rd largest exporter of defence goods from 2017-2021.

A coalition led by the right-wing former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has won a majority of seats in the Israeli parliament.
Knesset is the name of the unicameral legislature of Israel. Netanyahu was the country’s prime minister for 12 years between 2009 and 2021.  Netanyahu, who is on trial for corruption, will be invited by Israeli President Isaac Herzog to form a government.

As per the 2022 WTW Global Gender Wealth Equity report, women will have 74 per cent of the wealth accumulated by men, when they retire.
In Asia-Pacific (APAC), India had the worst gender wealth gap (64 per cent), more than the global average. A major factor for this is India’s gender pay gap for professional and technical roles. Another factor is that opportunities for women in leadership positions are limited, with only 3 per cent of women in workforce at senior positions.

Renowned women’s rights activist Ela Bhatt, who is also the founder of SEWA (Self Employed Women’s Association), passed away recently.
SEWA was formed as a trade union of women working in the unorganized sector, which now has two million members. The 89-year-old, also a Padma Bhushan recipient, was a pioneer in the field of women empowerment and received international recognition.

The Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Jal Shakti held Technical Session on ‘Rural WASH Partnerships – the way forward’ on the second day of the 7th India Water Week.
‘WASH’ stands for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). Union Jal Shakti Minister also launched the toolkit for Swachh Survekshan Grameen (SSG) 2023 and the web portal for the ‘Twinpit to Retrofit Abhiyan’

The Ministry of Defence said the Indian Army has registered ‘Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)’ of the new design and camouflage pattern uniform.
The new digital pattern combat uniform with a contemporary look and functional design was unveiled for Indian Army soldiers in January 2022. The fabric has been made lighter, stronger, breathable with fast drying features.
