The Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently dedicated Maze Garden and Miyawaki Forest in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat.
The Miyawaki Forest is named after the technique developed by a Japanese botanist and ecologist Dr Akira Miyawaki to plant saplings of various species close to each other which develops into a dense urban forest.

Notes:
The Ministry of Electronics and IT has approved the greenfield Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) to be set up in Ranjangaon Phase III, near Pune in Maharashtra.
The project cost of the Cluster is Rs 492.85 crores. There are EMCs in Noida, Tirupati, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, where multi-national companies and Indian start-ups have set up their units.

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar represented India in the Meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Government.
Dr. Jaishankar also expressed interest in expanding India-SCO trade on the basis of fair market access. A Joint Communique of SCO Heads of Government and other Decisions were adopted at the conclusion of the Meeting.

Ministry of Education has recently released the Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE) report.
As per the report, Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) has improved at primary, upper primary, and higher secondary levels of school education in 2021-22 as compared to 2020-21. In 2021-22, the total number of students enrolled in school education from primary to higher secondary increased by 19.36 lakh enrolments from the previous year.

Notes:
Top-seeded Indian Grandmaster, R Praggnanandhaa and compatriot P V Nandhidhaa won the titles in the Open and women’s sections respectively in the Asian Continental Chess championship.
Praggnanandhaa drew with compatriot B Adhiban in the ninth and final round to win the title with seven points. The victory also earned Praggnanandhaa a ticket to the next FIDE World Cup. In the women’s event, Nandhidhaa remained unbeaten throughout to finish first with 7.5 points.

Notes:
The Supreme Court recently upheld the Employees’ Pension (Amendment) Scheme, 2014 as ‘legal and valid’, while it quashed the salary limit of Rs 15000.
The 2014 amendment capped the maximum pensionable salary (basic pay plus dearness allowance) at Rs 15,000 per month. Prior to the amendment, the maximum pensionable salary was capped at Rs 6,500 a month.

The Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Jal Shakti held Technical Session on ‘Rural WASH Partnerships – the way forward’ on the second day of the 7th India Water Week.
‘WASH’ stands for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). Union Jal Shakti Minister also launched the toolkit for Swachh Survekshan Grameen (SSG) 2023 and the web portal for the ‘Twinpit to Retrofit Abhiyan’

Veteran writer M.T. Vasudevan Nair has been named the recipient of the first Kerala Jyothi award instituted by the State Government.
The jury was chaired by the renowned film-maker Adoor Gopalakrishnan. Actor Mammootty, former civil servant, social activist T. Madhava Menon among others are selected for the Kerala Prabha award while sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman, scientist and educationist M.P. Parameswaran and singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi among others will be presented Kerala Sree award.

Notes:
Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav became the first Indian player to score 1,000 T20 International runs in a calendar year.
He accomplished this feat in the final Super 12 stage match against Zimbabwe held at Melbourne. In 28 innings this year, Suryakumar has scored 1,026 runs at an average of 44.60.

Notes:
A new species of endemic honeybee has been discovered in the Western Ghats. It has been named Apis karinjodian given the common name Indian black honeybee.
A new species of honeybee has been spotted from the Western Ghats after more than 200 years. The last honeybee described from India was Apis indica in 1798.
