Grama Vandi, the city circular service of the Kerala Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) won the national ‘Commentation Award in Urban Transport’ in the category of ‘City with the best Public Transport System’.
The ‘Grama Vandi’ was launched in association with local self-government institutions in the State. It also won the Award of Excellence in Urban Transport at the Urban Mobility India (UMI) conference, held in Kochi.

‘Ezhuthachan Puraskaram’ is the Kerala state government’s highest literary honour, named after Thunchaththu Ramanujan Ezhuthachan, a 16th century devotional poet.
This year, Noted Malayalam fiction writer Sethu has been selected for the Ezhuthachan Award 2022, in recognition of his overall contribution to Malayalam language and literature. The writer is also a recipient of the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award and Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award.

The ‘International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict’ is observed every year on November 6.
In 2001, the UN General Assembly declared 6 November of each year as the International Day. In 2016, the United Nations Environment Assembly adopted resolution which recognized the role of healthy ecosystems and sustainably managed resources in reducing the risk of armed conflict.

The Rising Sun Water Fest-2022 was held in the state of Meghalaya at Umiam Lake. The three day water sports and cultural fair was a first of its kind in the North East.
It is aimed at encouraging the youth of North East to take up water sports like Rowing and Sailing. It also aimed at promoting tourism in the North East. It was an initiative by the Indian Army’s Eastern Command with the governments of Assam and Meghalaya.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has collaborated with Japan to explore the Venus and the dark side of the moon.
ISRO was in talks with the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) for sending a lunar rover to explore the permanent shadow region of the moon. As per the initial plans, a lunar lander and rover built by ISRO will be put into orbit by a Japanese rocket near the south pole of the moon.

The Indo-German Week of the Young Researchers 2022 was jointly organised by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) India, and German Research Foundation (DFG).
30 promising young researchers from India and Germany will discuss and interact closely on contemporary matters in chemical sciences. The main goal of the conclave is to promote collaboration among early and mid-career researchers and scientists.

The Union Home Ministry has facilitated the visit of Indian Sikh pilgrims to Nankana Sahib in Pakistan on the occasion of Gurupurab.
A total of 2420 Indian Sikh pilgrims departed for Pakistan to participate in the Guru Nanak Jayanti celebrations with a ten-day Pakistani Pilgrim Visa. A total of 433 pilgrims from India visited Sri Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan on the occasion of Gurupurab.

Union Shipping Minister is set to inaugurate the PM Gati Shakti Multimodal Waterways Summit at Varanasi.
The event is being organised by the Indian Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) under the aegis of the Union ministry of ports, shipping and waterways. It aims to generate public awareness about the ‘PM Gati Shakti National Masterplan’ with focus on infrastructure development in the waterways.

Notes:
Uttarakhand is celebrating its 22nd state foundation day on November 9. Uttarakhand was formed on the same day in 2000, as 27th state of India.
The state is divided into Garhwal and Kumoan divisions. Several programs were held in various parts of the state to mark the occasion.

President Droupadi Murmu launched e-KUMBH (Knowledge Unleashed in Multiple Bharatiya Languages) portal.
In the portal, engineering courses and books would be available in 12 scheduled Indian languages. The President also released engineering books of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in Odia language and glossary of technical terms in Odia language.
