Guyana President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali will be the chief guest at the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention.
It will be held in January 2023 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The External Affairs Ministry also said that Zaneta Mascarenhas, Member of Parliament of Australia, will be the guest of honour at the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. The theme of the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is – Diaspora: Reliable Partners for India’s Progress in Amrit Kaal.

Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved a USD 350 million (about Rs 2,900 crore) loan to improve the road connectivity in Maharashtra.
The ‘Connecting Economic Clusters for Inclusive Growth in Maharashtra’ project will develop the state’s core road network. It will help connect underdeveloped rural communities with more opportunities, improve access to health and social services and improve agricultural value chains.

‘National Cancer Awareness Day’ is observed on November 7 every year in India, to highlight the risks of cancer.
National Cancer Awareness Day was announced in September 2014. It also coincided with the birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Marie Curie, whose contributions led to the development of radiotherapy for cancer treatment.

The Rising Sun Water Fest-2022 was held in the state of Meghalaya at Umiam Lake. The three day water sports and cultural fair was a first of its kind in the North East.
It is aimed at encouraging the youth of North East to take up water sports like Rowing and Sailing. It also aimed at promoting tourism in the North East. It was an initiative by the Indian Army’s Eastern Command with the governments of Assam and Meghalaya.

The Indian Army has started the process to procure 120 loitering munitions and 10 aerial targeting systems to improve its military might along the border with China.
It has also planned to procure an array of additional systems including 100 K9 Vajra howitzers and UAVs to further augment combat abilities.

The Union Home Ministry has facilitated the visit of Indian Sikh pilgrims to Nankana Sahib in Pakistan on the occasion of Gurupurab.
A total of 2420 Indian Sikh pilgrims departed for Pakistan to participate in the Guru Nanak Jayanti celebrations with a ten-day Pakistani Pilgrim Visa. A total of 433 pilgrims from India visited Sri Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan on the occasion of Gurupurab.

Justice D Y Chandrachud took charge as the 50th Chief Justice of India. He was recommended for the top post by former CJI UU Lalit recently.
The senior-most judge of the apex court- Justice Chandrachud is set to serve as CJI for a period of two years, succeeding Uday Umesh Lalit, who had a brief tenure of 74 days. Justice Chandrachud will serve as Chief Justice till November 2024.

Uttarakhand is celebrating its 22nd state foundation day on November 9. Uttarakhand was formed on the same day in 2000, as 27th state of India.
The state is divided into Garhwal and Kumoan divisions. Several programs were held in various parts of the state to mark the occasion.

Spain and Senegal led 30 countries and 20 global organisations to launch the ‘International Drought Resilience Alliance (IDRA)’.
It was launched at the 27th Conference of Parties (COP27) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) at Sharm El-Sheikh. The alliance is seen as a specific solution for the United Nations to the impacts of climate change, as it will help each other to be better prepared for future droughts.

The Department of Economic affairs amended the electoral bonds scheme to allow their sale for 15 extra days during the year of general elections to the legislative assembly of states and Union territories with legislature’.
Earlier, only an additional period of 30 days was allowed to be specified by the central government in the year of Lok Sabha elections.
