Notes:
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) recently announced that it has allocated USD 20.3 million aid to its developing member countries to access coronavirus vaccine.
The funds include USD 20 million from ADB’s Technical Assistance Special Fund (TASF) and USD 300,000 from the High-Level Technology Fund financed by Japan. Earlier in April, ADB had approved USD 20 billion assistance package to help its developing members fight Covid-19.

Notes:
The construction major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has manufactured and delivered the booster segment for Gaganyaan Launch Vehicle to ISRO.
The delivered component is the middle segment of the rocket booster named as S-200. The component has been manufactured at the company’s Powai Aerospace Manufacturing Facility and has been delivered to ISRO ahead of its schedule.

High Commission of India has launched Special Edition wrist watches to commemorate the Centenary year of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Bangladesh is celebrating the birth centenary year of its founder president and Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as Mujib Centenary year ‘Mujib Borsho’. The wristwatches in the limited-edition series bear the image and the signature of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

World Philosophy Day was introduced by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO in 2002.
The UNESCO General Conference proclaimed that World Philosophy Day would be celebrated on every third Thursday of November, in 2005. This year, the observance calls all countries to focus on the philosophical reflections of the current pandemic.

Senior BJP politician and former Goa Governor Mridula Sinha recently passed away at the age of 77. She was the first female Governor of the state.
She was a teacher, poet and a veteran Hindi writer. She held various senior posts after she joined the Bharathiya Janata Party in the year 1981. She was known for her several new initiatives in the Raj Bhawan, Goa.

Leading non-governmental organization, the Women’s World Summit Foundation (WWSF), launched the World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse on November 19, in the year 2000.
This is observed in synergy with the anniversary of the International Day for the rights of the child observed on 20 November. In 2001, an NGO coalition was formed to conduct events on November 19, every year.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has recently released the third volume of the selected speeches of President Ram Nath Kovind titled ‘Loktantra Ke Swar’ and ‘The Republican Ethic’.
The book is published by the Publications Division and it is a collection of selected speeches of the President in Hindi and English. Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar released the e-version of the book.

The Booker Prize 2020 has been awarded to Scottish-American writer Douglas Stuart for his debut novel ‘Shuggie Bain’.
The shortlist for the coveted award consisted of five more titles which also included Avni Doshi’s book ‘Burnt Sugar’, which was published in India as ‘Girl in White Cotton’. Last year the Prize was won jointly to Atwood for ‘The Testaments’ and Evaristo for ‘Girl, Woman, Other’.

According to Facebook’s latest transparency report, India occupied the second position in terms of requests being made for user data.
A total of over 35000 requests were made by India during the period of January-June 2020, which is only second to the United States. The requests made by India has also increased 23 per cent globally.

Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the acquisition of retail, wholesale, logistics & warehousing businesses of Future Group by Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd and Reliance Retail and Fashion Lifestyle Ltd.
In the month of August this year, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) acquired the businesses of Kishore Biyani’s Future Group for Rs 24,713 crore. After the approval, RIL will have access to around 1800 retail stores of Future Group.
