National Education Day is observed on November 11 across the country, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
Azad was the first Education minister of independent India and was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1992. The Government has decided to celebrate National Education Day in the year 2008.

Union minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal delivered the keynote address at Conference ‘India: Drivers of Change’.
In the conference organized by the Bank of America, the Minister urged the global investors to invest in India. He also highlighted about the production-linked incentives provided for the manufacturing sector.

The World Health Organisation has recently announced that it will set up a Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in India.
This announcement was made by WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. This new centre would enable WHO to implement WHO traditional medicine strategy 2014-2023.

National Ayurveda Day is celebrated on the same day of Dhanwantri Jayanti since 2016. This year it was celebrated on November 13.
National Ayurveda Day was celebrated across the country on the theme of ‘Ayurveda for Covid-19’. The day is observed to spread awareness on the importance of Ayurveda in our daily lives.

The Union Ministry of Sports has launched an incentive scheme, under which monetary support would be provided to 500 private academies. This would be done under the Khelo India Scheme over the next four years from FY 2020-21.
The private sports academies in India would be ranked based on the quality of coaching, achievement of players, infrastructure availability etc.

The United Nations (UN) has collaborated with the Vaccine Confidence Project at the University of London, to launch a new initiative named ‘Halo’.
It aims to tackle the issue of misinformation around Covid-19 vaccines. Over 100 scientists have come together to share authentic information on safety and effectiveness of vaccines via the social media. Over 22 scientists have joined Team Halo from India.

Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri has recently launched the Safaimitra Suraksha Challenge, to ensure no life of any sewer or septic tank cleaner is lost due to ‘hazardous’ cleaning.
The campaign is launched on the occasion of World Toilet Day, in 243 cities across the country. In the virtual event, representative of the 243 cities pledged to mechanize all sewer and septic tank cleaning operations by 30th April 2021.

The Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH) Ministry celebrates the Naturopathy Day on November 18.
It was first celebrated in the year 2018, with the aim of promoting drug-less system of medicine. It seeks to prevent diseases by modifying the diet and lifestyle. Ayurveda Day is marked on November 5, Unani Day on February 11, Siddha Day on January 4. World Homeopathy day is marked on April 10.

The US House of Representatives has recently passed a bipartisan resolution on Autonomous Tibet, recognising the cultural and religious significance of an autonomous Tibet.
The resolution also recognised the work done by the 14th Dalai Lama to promote global peace and harmony. It also calls to convene a bipartisan forum to discuss peaceful solutions to international conflicts.

The international governing body of football, FIFA has released new employment rules to protect the maternity rights of its female players.
It announced that any club which ended a player’s contract for becoming pregnant will face compensation and a fine. FIFA is also set to mandate clubs to allow at least 14 weeks of maternity leave paid at a minimum two-thirds of a player’s full salary.
