The UK India Business Council (UKIBC) has released a report named ‘Doing Business in India Report 2020’. The report has been launched by UK Investment Minister Lord Gerry Grimstone.
The report has been compiled based on the inputs from 106 UK organisations operating in India in manufacturing, services, and higher education sectors.

The apex judicial body, Supreme Court of India has extended the time line till December 31,2020 for implementation of its judgement on grant of permanent commission to women SSC officers in Indian Navy.
On March 17, 2020 the Supreme Court had cleared permanent commission for women in the Navy and asked the Centre to implement the same within three months.

Sean Connery, the Scottish movie legend, who was the first actor to play James Bond on the big screen, has recently passed away.
His films include Dr. No in 1962, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice and Diamonds Are Forever. The actor, who dominated the silver screen for four decades, died at the age of 90.

India’s premier think tank Niti Aayog has recently released a draft model Act and rules on conclusive land titling, to be used by the states. The draft rules aim to reduce litigations and ease the land acquisition process for infrastructure projects.
The draft provides state governments with power to order for establishment, administration and management of a system of title registration of immovable properties.

A number of welfare schemes for the refugee and the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) population have been announced by the state Government of West Bengal.
One among them is providing land pattas to refugee colonies. The state has decided to give a total 1,25,000 land pattas to the refugees, of which 25,000 pattas were given by the Chief Minister recently.

The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has recently constituted a committee to review guidelines on Television Rating agencies in India. The committee would be chaired by Prasar Bharti CEO Shashi Shekhar Vempati.
The committee has been constituted keeping in view the recent recommendations from Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, TRAI and other technological advancements in the industry.

The Chief of Indian Army, General MM Naravane has been conferred with the Honorary rank of General of the Nepali Army, by the President Bidya Devi Bhandari during a special ceremony.
General KM Cariappa was the first Indian Army chief to be honoured with the title in 1950. Last year, Nepali Army chief General Purna Chandra Thapa was also made the honorary General of the Indian Army.

John Magufuli has been sworn in as the President of Tanzania for the second 5 year term. His second term of office would run till 2025.
Tanzania is an East African nation known for its vast wilderness areas. The Serengeti National Park and Kilimanjaro National Park are located in this country. Dodoma is its capital and Tanzanian shilling is its currency.

The Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed has recently launched military operations in the region of Tigray, in the country.
The Air Force of Ethiopia has recently bombed and destroyed military artillery in the northern Tigray region. The campaign has been launched against the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF).

Tamil Nadu has won the first position under the ‘Best State’ category of National Water Awards (NWAs) 2019.
The awards have been constituted by the Department of Water Resources, Union Ministry of Jal Shakti. Tamil Nadu is followed by Maharashtra and Rajasthan as the best states under the normal category.
