The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has proposed changes to the definition of unpublished price sensitive information (UPSI) in order to establish clear regulations and ensure consistent compliance among listed companies.
The proposal was made in response to the inadequate categorization of announcements as UPSI and the subsequent compliance with legal requirements by listed entities.

The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) focuses on three dimensions of disaster risk i.e., exposure to hazards, vulnerability and capacity, and characteristics of hazard to minimize risks and increase resilience.
A high-level meeting of the midterm review of the SFDRR was held recently at the UN Headquarters.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) launched GRSE Accelerated Innovation Nurturing Scheme – 2023 or GAINS 2023 in Kolkata.
It aims to encourage startups to develop innovative solutions towards technological advances in shipbuilding. Its focus areas include AI, renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Mount Etna erupted recently in Italy. It is the Europe’s most active volcano, situated on the eastern coast of Sicily near Catania city.
Italian authorities then declared that the new eruption on Mount Etna was officially over and there were no injuries.

The Central Government recently released the biggest-ever bifurcation dues for the Andhra Pradesh government, amounting to Rs.10,460 crore.
This is the largest compensation since the bifurcation in June 2014. The amount released to Andhra Pradesh till last year was only Rs 4,117.89 crore.

Recently, the National Campaign for Updation and Verification of People’s Biodiversity Register (PBR) was launched in Goa. Its aim is to document and preserve India’s biological diversity.
The event was organized by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, in association with the Goa State Biodiversity Board, the National Biodiversity Authority, and the Government of Goa.

Sturisoma reisi is a newly discovered species of catfish. It was found in Madeira River basin in Bolivia and Brazil.
First described in 1838 with Loricaria rostrata as the type species, the genus includes 10 recognized species at present.

Araku Valley Coffee from Andhra Pradesh recently received the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) certificate from the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).
Coffee and pepper, being procured by the Girijan Cooperative Corporation (GCC) from the tribal coffee farmers of Chintapalli division, received the organic certificate.

Researchers have discovered more than 5,000 species, with over 88 to 92 per cent of them spotted for the first time.

South Korea recently launched its home-grown space rocket, Nuri. It successfully delivered a commercial-grade satellite into orbit.
The three-stage, 155-foot-tall rocket successfully deployed all of its payloads into their designated orbits, as per the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), South Korea’s space agency.
