The UK government has unveiled a new semiconductor strategy to minimize its dependence on Asian production of computer chips.
Under this strategy, the government will invest around 1.2 billion USD over the next decade into the semiconductor industry.

City Of Dead is a 7 km-long UNESCO World Heritage Site situated in Egypt. It is a series of vast Islamic-era necropolises and cemeteries in Cairo.
As part of a government initiative, authorities are digging their way through this site for a highway project. Several historians and volunteers have come together to stop the historic site’s demolition.

Rayyanah Barnawi is the first Arab woman astronaut to go to space as part of Saudi Arabia’s maiden space mission.
She is part of a team which recently went to the International Space Station (ISS) in a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida.

Machilipatnam port project was launched recently by Andhra Pradesh government. Its outlay is ₹5,156 crore.
The construction of the port, with an initial cargo capacity of 35 million tonnes, is scheduled to be completed in two years.

The Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2023 will be organized in Malaysia. The 16th edition of the event was held from May 22 to 25.
LIMA is one of the largest maritime and aerospace exhibitions in the Asia-Pacific. This year’s edition involves over 600 exhibitors from more than 30 countries, including India.

Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the southern bank of the Brahmaputra River in Morigaon district in Assam.
The Supreme Court has recently asked the Central Government and the Assam government to respond to a plea seeking directions to declare the area around the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary an eco-sensitive zone.

54-year-old U.T. Khader was unanimously elected Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, becomes the first Muslim to hold the post in Karnataka.
He was a former Minister of the state and 5-time Member of Legislative Assembly. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah proposed the name of Mr Khader, which was seconded by Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.

Arunachal Pradesh govt to set up Institute for Transforming Arunachal with NITI Aayog. Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced that the Institute will help build an ecosystem for knowledge platform for further learning.

The ‘State of Ransomware 2023’ report revealed that 73 per cent of India-based organisations that were surveyed were victims to ransomware.
As per the report, 43 percent of organizations that were surveyed had their data encrypted but still had to pay ransom.
