Navegaon Nagzira Tiger Reserve is situated in Maharashtra’s Gondia district. It is currently witnessing a slight surge in tiger population.
Two tigresses captured recently in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur by the forest department will be released into the Navegaon Nagzira Tiger Reserve (NNTR), as part of a tiger translocation programme.

Notes:
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI has decided to withdraw Rs.2,000 denominated notes from circulation.
It has urged everyone to exchange these notes by September 30 this year.  However, the notes will continue as legal tender. Exchange of Rs 2,000 notes into notes of other denominations can be made upto a limit of Rs 20,000.

The sixth submarine of the first batch of six Kalvari-class submarines for the Indian Navy under Project-75 is Vaghsheer.
The submarine is expected to be delivered to the Indian Navy in early 2024. The submarine was launched in 2022 by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL).

Scientists from the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) have proposed a new metric called the root mean square (rms) granulation contrast.
Its purpose is to quantify the image quality of ground-based solar telescopes.

Machilipatnam port project was launched recently by Andhra Pradesh government. Its outlay is ₹5,156 crore.
The construction of the port, with an initial cargo capacity of 35 million tonnes, is scheduled to be completed in two years.

Dangote Refinery was commissioned recently by Nigeria. It is expected to transform the country into a net exporter of petroleum products.
Nigeria spent USD 23.3 billion last year on petroleum product imports and consumes around 33 million litres of petrol a day.

Georgi Gospodinov is the first Bulgarian author to win International Booker Prize. He authored the book titled “Time Shelter”.
He is one of the leading voices of contemporary European literature. For translating his work “Time Shelter” into English, his translator Angela Rodel and him shared the 2023 International Booker Prize.

The National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) is organising the first Urban Climate Film Festival through the CITIIS program under U20 engagement events.
The festival is being organised with support from the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India, the French Development Agency (AFD), and the European Union.

USS Gerald R. Ford is the largest aircraft carrier in the world. It recently made its first foreign call.
The ship is named after the 38th President of the United States, Gerald Ford. The ship sailed into Oslo, a first for such a U.S. ship, in a show of NATO force at a time of heightened tension between NATO and Russia over the war in Ukraine.

The government has unveiled a new rule for the Special Protection Group (SPG), the force responsible for the security of the Prime Minister.
The SPG will now be handled by an officer not below the rank of an Additional Director-General belonging to the Indian Police Service.
