Recently, the National Campaign for Updation and Verification of People’s Biodiversity Register (PBR) was launched in Goa. Its aim is to document and preserve India’s biological diversity.
The event was organized by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, in association with the Goa State Biodiversity Board, the National Biodiversity Authority, and the Government of Goa.

The UDAN 5.1 was launched recently by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. It will specifically focus on helicopter routes.
It aims to further enhance the connectivity to remote areas of the country and achieve last-mile connectivity through helicopters.

AIRAWAT is an AI supercomputer in the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Pune. It is India’s largest and fastest AI supercomputing system, with a remarkable speed of 13,170 teraflops.
It was ranked at 75th position in the world by the 61st edition of Top 500 Global Supercomputing List. The supercomputer has been installed this year.

Dancing Girl of Mohenjodaro, which belongs to the Indus Valley Civilization, was discovered in 1926 by British archaeologist Ernest McKay.
On the occasion of International Museum Day, Prime Minister Modi unveiled the International Museum Expo’s mascot, which is a contemporised version of the famous Dancing Girl of Mohenjodaro.

Typhoon Mawar recently crossed the United States territory of Guam. It has caused heavy rain and high-speed winds.
It was the strongest typhoon to hit the US Pacific territory in over two decades. Philippines warns of possible flooding, landslides  due to the storm, locally named Betty.

Hemidactylus pakka malaiensis is a newly discovered species of large-bodied gecko. It was found at the Pakkamalai hills, at Gingee in the southern Eastern Ghats.
The new species is closely related to H. graniticolus and the recently described H. easai, from which it can be distinguished by its lower femoral pores count.

Mihir is a 2.8 petaflop supercomputer in the National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF).
Union Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju visited NCMRWF recently. The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, is home to ‘Pratyush’, a 4.0 petaflop supercomputer.

Sarathi offers merchants a streamlined and hassle-free experience. Sarathi’s features include immediate status updates, eliminating the need for follow-up visits, and the ability to transact on the same day their application is processed.

State-owned Bank of Maharashtra (BoM) has emerged as the top performer among public sector lenders in terms of loan and deposit growth in percentage terms during 2022-23.
The bank also recorded highest growth in profitability with bottom-line growing almost 126 per cent to ₹2,602 crore during the year.
