‘Soaring Eagle’ exercise is a regular large-scale exercise conducted by the South Korea Air Force. It commenced recently at an air base in Cheongju, 112 kilometre south of Seoul.
The exercise mobilises more than 160 personnel and nearly 60 warplanes, including F-35A stealth fighters, and other tanker transport aircraft.

India’s Rhythm Sangwan has won the bronze medal in the women’s 10-metre air pistol event at the ISSF World Cup 2023 for rifle and pistol shooters in Baku, Azerbaijan.
It was Rhythm Sangwan’s first individual senior medal at the shooting World Cup. She has won medals in Shooting World Cups and Shooting Championship at junior as well as at senior level.

The ‘Non-aqueous all-organic redox flow battery’ (NORFB) was developed recently by scientists at IIT Madras. It is a flow battery that promises to provide better performance.
The Researchers have developed a new type of electrolyte using ‘pyrylium salts’, which are a class of organic chemicals. The battery has been demonstrated with an average coulombic efficiency of 97 per cent.

The fourth Positive Indigenisation List (PIL) for Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSU) was released recently by the Union Defence Ministry.
The list covered 928 strategically-important Line Replacement Units (LRUs), sub-systems, spares and components.

Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) members have unanimously adopted India’s proposal for developing Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).
India has the record of developing Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) like the UPI and Aadhaar to ease government services.

In the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup being held at Baku in Azerbaijan, Indian pair Divya TS and Sarabjot Singh won gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event.
The Indian pair defeated the Serbian legends Damir Mikec and Zorana Arunovic in the final match. It was a second ISSF World Cup gold for Sarabjot who had won the individual air pistol in Bhopal in March this year.

Ahead of the third Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) summit, Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka made a public apology for his role in the 1987 military coup.
This coup was a pivotal moment in the country’s history, resulting in the overthrowing of the elected government of Prime Minister Timoci Bavadra.

World Economic Situation and Prospects report was released recently by the UN. According to this report, the global economic growth is expected to 2.3 percent in 2023.
The report also expected a 2.5 per cent growth in 2024. The growth rate is still well below the average growth rate in the two decades before the pandemic of 3.1%.

Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has proposed the granting of special board nomination rights for unitholders of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs).
This is expected to strength corporate governance norms. Under the current regulations, no unitholder of these trusts can enjoy superior voting rights.

The demand for the creation of a separate Kukiland has been happening since the late 1980s.
After clashes between Manipur’s Kuki-Zomi tribes and the majority Meitei community left more than 70 people dead, the state’s 10 Kuki-Zomi MLAs demanded a separate administration under the Constitution.
