A report titled “Turning off the Tap: How the world can end plastic pollution and create a circular economy” was released recently by UNEP.
According to this report, global plastic pollution can be reduced by 80% by 2040 if deep policy and market shifts are achieved using existing technologies and shift to circular economy.

Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has proposed the granting of special board nomination rights for unitholders of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs).
This is expected to strength corporate governance norms. Under the current regulations, no unitholder of these trusts can enjoy superior voting rights.

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the two-day National Ayush Mission Conclave in New Delhi.
National Ayush Mission (NAM) is the flagship program of Ministry of Ayush and with active cooperation of states and UT governments. The two days conclave will pave way for coordination among stakeholders and strengthen functioning of AHWCs.

The demand for the creation of a separate Kukiland has been happening since the late 1980s.
After clashes between Manipur’s Kuki-Zomi tribes and the majority Meitei community left more than 70 people dead, the state’s 10 Kuki-Zomi MLAs demanded a separate administration under the Constitution.

Platytholus clemensi is a newly discovered genus and species of pachycephalosaurid dinosaur. Its partial skull remains were found in the US’ Montana.
Also known as dome-headed or bone-headed dinosaurs, these creatures are characterized by a large, bony dome atop their skull, a short neck, short forelimbs and powerful hind limbs.

The Central Government has recently revamped the rules governing the approval for mergers and acquisitions (M&As) of startups and MSMEs.
The aim of the new rules is to simplify the M&A process to enable the securing of approval within 15 to 60 days, as per a  Corporate affairs ministry (MCA) notification.

India launched ‘Operation Karuna’ to assist Myanmar which has been recently hit by Cyclone Mocha. Four Indian Navy ships carrying relief material reached Yangon.
The ships are carrying emergency food items, tents, essential medicines, water pumps, portable generators, clothes, sanitary and hygiene items, etc.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) recently released the World Health Statistics 2023. It is annual compilation of the latest available data on health and health-related indicators. The report has been published since 2005.
According to this report, the pandemic has caused some 20 million deaths and a total of 336.8 million life-years.

To help investors make better decisions, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has announced a risk disclosure framework for individual traders in the equity Futures & Options (F&O) segment.
Starting from July 1, all stock brokers will be required to display risk disclosures on their websites and inform their clients accordingly.

Dal Lake is the second largest lake in Jammu and Kashmir. CRPF recently conducted a special drill in this lake as part of security preparedness ahead of the G20 summit in Kashmir.
Marine Commandos (MORCOS) have also done similar security drills in Dal Lake. The G20 international summit in Kashmir was held from May 22 to May 24 at Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) on the banks of Dal Lake.
