‘Soaring Eagle’ exercise is a regular large-scale exercise conducted by the South Korea Air Force. It commenced recently at an air base in Cheongju, 112 kilometre south of Seoul.
The exercise mobilises more than 160 personnel and nearly 60 warplanes, including F-35A stealth fighters, and other tanker transport aircraft.

Kerala Economic Revival Program (KERA) aims to ensure the revival of the Kerala’s agricultural sector through socio-economic interventions.
The World Bank has proposed a funding of 165 million USD for this project.

Gekko mizoramensis was discovered in Mizoram by researchers of Mizoram University and Germany-based Max Planck Institute for Biology.
It is a gliding gecko, a subgenus found in Southeast Asia. The lizard is named as Parachute Gecko because of skin flaps along the body and tail that enable it to glide.

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the two-day National Ayush Mission Conclave in New Delhi.
National Ayush Mission (NAM) is the flagship program of Ministry of Ayush and with active cooperation of states and UT governments. The two days conclave will pave way for coordination among stakeholders and strengthen functioning of AHWCs.

The ‘South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship 2023’ recently concluded in Itanagar.It was a three-day international event in which more than 100 athletes from six countries Bhutan, Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Nepal participated.
In the Under-19 Boys singles, Ankur Bhattacharjee defeated Payas Jain to claim the gold, while in Under-19 girls’ singles, Suhana Saini defeated Yashaswini Ghorpade claimed the gold.

World Telecommunication and Information Society Day is an international day is celebrated annually on 17 May.
It was proclaimed in November 2006 by the International Telecommunication Union Plenipotentiary Conference in Antalya, Turkey. The theme for this year is “Empowering the least developed countries through information and communication technologies.”

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has proposed changes to the definition of unpublished price sensitive information (UPSI) in order to establish clear regulations and ensure consistent compliance among listed companies.
The proposal was made in response to the inadequate categorization of announcements as UPSI and the subsequent compliance with legal requirements by listed entities.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) recently released the World Health Statistics 2023. It is annual compilation of the latest available data on health and health-related indicators. The report has been published since 2005.
According to this report, the pandemic has caused some 20 million deaths and a total of 336.8 million life-years.

Sagar Parikrama Yatra Phase-V was launched recently. Its purpose is to resolve issues of fishermen and other stakeholders and promote their economic wellbeing.
It facilitates their economic upliftment through various fisheries schemes and programs being implemented by the Government of India such as Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and Kisan Credit Card (KCC).
