Indian Government think tank NITI Aayog has prepared a draft national migrant labour policy, along with a working group of officials and other members.
The draft highlights two approaches in designing the policy: one focussed on cash transfers, special reservations; two focussed on enhancing the capability of the community.

Ghana became the first country to receive a batch of free Covid vaccine doses through the COVAX initiative.
The World Health Organization (WHO) leads the COVAX initiative together with Gavi the Vaccine Alliance and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations. It aims to share the vaccines to poorer countries.

The Union Cabinet approved a proposal to impose President’s Rule in Puducherry. Earlier, the Congress-led Government in the Union territory lost power during a vote of confidence.
The Cabinet took the decision as no party came forward to stake claim to form the government in the UT, following the resignation of the Chief minister V Narayanasamy. After the Lieutenant Governor had recommended President’s Rule, the Cabinet has approved the same.

The Union Ministry of Agriculture has recently released the 2nd advanced estimates for Production of Food grains for 2020-21.
As per the said figures, the production of food grains stood at a record high of 109.24 million tonnes during the current crop year. This value is 1.28% more than the production value for the previous cropping season.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) aerobatic display teams, Suryakiran and Sarang, along with Light Combat Aircraft Tejas, are set to participate in the three-day Air Show.
The Air Show is a part of the 70th-anniversary celebrations of the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF). Earlier, the SKAT- Suryakiran Aerobatic team participated in the 50th anniversary of SLAF in 2001, in Sri Lanka.

India’s ace wrestler Vinesh Phogat wont he gold medal at the Ukrainian Wrestlers and Coaches Memorial tournament.
Vinesh Phogat, the world number three wrestler defeated the 2017 world champion V Kaladzinskay to win the gold medal. She is the only Indian woman wrestler to have qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Notes:
Exercise Desert Flag is a multinational exercise, which is to be held in the United Arab Emirates. Ten countries are to take part in this exercise including India, France and the U.S. This exercise will be held for three weeks this month.
This semi-annual exercise will involve multiple, intensive air combat sorties. IAF’s Su-30-MKI and C-17s fighter jets took off recently to participate in this exercise.

The Third Jan Aushadhi Diwas celebrations started on March 1, 2021. The one-week-long celebrations would conclude on March 7, 2021. To mark the celebrations, the Jan Aushadhi Kendras conducted the Health Check-up Camps.
The health check-up activities include Sugar level check-up, blood Pressure check-up, free doctor consultation and free medicine distribution.

Notes:
India is sending a consignment of rice and hydroxychloroquine tablets to the drought-hit east African country in Madagascar.
The humanitarian assistance is being delivered on-board Indian Naval Ship (INS) Jalashwa, which will leave with the food and medical assistance and is expected to reach the Port of Ehoala in Madagascar by the third week of March.

Notes:
Sindhu Netra satellite was successfully launched into space recently. It was developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to boost India’s surveillance capability and improve monitoring of activities in the Indian Ocean Region.
The launch was made using ISRO’s PSLV-C51. The satellite is capable of automatic identification of warships and merchant ships in IOR.
