The Jharkhand state government for the first time presented an outcome-based budget. Under the mechanism, 11 departments have been given targets and responsibilities, the results of which will be measured by the end of next financial year.
The departments have submitted a detailed document on the work they are planning to do in the next fiscal.

Nagarahole Tiger Reserve, formerly known as Rajiv Gandhi (Nagarahole) National Park, is a wildlife reserve in Karnataka. It is a part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve.
It is named after the river Nagarahole, which is the Kannada term for ‘Serpent River’. The reserve was recently engulfed in a major forest fire, leading to the destruction of several acres of forest covers.

JP Morgan has successfully tested the world’s first blockchain transaction in space using the satellites of the Danish space firm GomSpace.
GOMX-4 is GomSpace’s research and development mission, which includes two satellites – GOMX-4A and GOMX-4B. They were launched in 2018 at the low Earth orbit.

In the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021, only 12 Indian Institutions found place in the top-100 list.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA has retained its top position. Three Indian Institutes of Technology have entered the group of the top 100 engineering institutes. IIT-Bombay is placed at the 49th position in the engineering and technology category.

OPCW or Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons is the international chemical weapons watchdog, headquartered in The Hague, the Netherlands.
It is the implementing body for the Chemical Weapons Convention. It also oversees the global effort to eliminate the use of chemical weapons.

The President of India Ram Nath Kovind laid the foundation stone for the conservation works of Singorgarh Fort in Damoh district in Madhya Pradesh.
During the program organised by Ministry of Culture and the state’s Tribal Affairs Department, the President inaugurated the newly formed Jabalpur Circle of Archaeological Survey of India.

Ace Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia has regained the top spot in the world rankings after he clinched a second successive gold medal at the Matteo Pallicone Ranking Series.
In the 65kg freestyle event final in Rome, he defeated his Mongolian counterpart to win gold. Bajrang Punia also won gold in the tournament last year. He had also earned his quota for the Tokyo Olympics.

The Central government formed a committee to commemorate the 75 years of India’s independence, headed by the Prime Minister.
The committee held its first meeting recently. It will discuss procedures related to activities for the celebrations. The committee consists of 259 members including former President Pratibha Patil, former prime ministers Manmohan Singh and HD Devegowda.

Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel inaugurated the All-Women’s Art Exhibition titled ‘Akshya Patra’.
The exhibition was inaugurated at Lalit Kala Akademi on International Women’s Day. The exhibition will and showcase more than 250 artworks from over 12 countries.

The Andhra Pradesh state government announced that it would present Gender Budget in the following Budget session of the Assembly.
Under the new initiative, the state will provide data related to allocations made and funds spent on women’s welfare under various schemes.
