Scientists from Russia have developed and deployed a telescope named “Baikal-GVD”. The telescope has been placed into the depths of Lake Baikal in southern Siberia, which is the deepest lake known in earth.
Using this telescope, Scientists are in search of Neutrinos – the tiniest known particles in the universe.

Nowruz is the Iranian and Persian New Year festival. India participated in Nowruz celebrations held at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Beijing.
SCO is an intergovernmental organisation consisting of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India and Pakistan. It is headquartered in Beijing, China.

Catastrophe bonds are intended to insure damage from natural disasters like earthquakes and storms. When the damage occurs due to volcanic eruption, the bond is called Volcano Bonds.
A first such Volcano bond has been issued by the Danish Red Cross for dedicated insurance against volcanic eruptions. The project aim to raise as much as $3 million.

The renowned Egyptian feminist, novelist and psychiatrist Nawal Saadawi died recently at the age of 89. She was a famous writer, and a strong advocate of women rights in Egypt and the Arab world.
Born in 1931, she studied medicine at Cairo University and Columbia University in New York. She practiced medicine as a psychiatrist and has authored dozens of books including Off Limits (2020) and A Daughter of Isis (2018).

The World Poetry Day is celebrated every year on March 21 by UNESCO. It was first adopted by UNESCO in the 30th General Conference in Paris in the year 1999.
This day honors poets across the globe and promotes reading, writing, and teaching of poetry. It supports linguistic diversity through poetic expressions.

The National Water Mission’s (NWM) campaign named “Catch the Rain” has been launched with the tagline “Catch the rain, where it falls, when it falls”.
This campaign urges the states and other stakeholders to create appropriate Rain Water Harvesting Structures (RWHS) that is suitable for all climatic conditions. This campaign has been launched by PM Narendra Modi.

The state Government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to establish a network of Animal Ambulance run by the state. This is aimed to help distressed animals and provide them with proper animal healthcare.
It has been made an important agenda for the Government by the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The Lok Sabha has passed the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill – 2021. This bill seeks to amend the definition for “Government of Delhi” as Lieutenant-Governor (L-G).
The bill also mandated the elected government in Delhi – NCR to take the opinion of the L-G before any executive action.

After being hit by a severe drought, Taiwan is set to ration water for more than one million households.
The sub-tropical Taiwan is experiencing its worst drought in over half a century. The country also clarified that the technology hub of Hsinchu and the Chip manufacturing Giant TSMC will not be affected.

As per a recent report from SBI’s research team authored by the bank’s chief economic adviser, Soumya Kanti Ghosh, the duration of second wave might last up to 100 days counted from 15 February.
Though India is currently seeing a spike in daily coronavirus cases, the report said that that we are in better place this time to control the pandemic with vaccines being administered. The report also revealed that increasing the speed of vaccination is the only way to fight COVID-19.
