Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has clinched the 53kg gold medal at the Poland Open in Warsaw. It is the third title of the season for the 26-year-old wrestler, who had previously won gold medals at the Matteo Pellicone event (March) and Asian Championship (April).
Vinesh won the final match against Ukraine’s Khrystyna Bereza 8-0. The victory would make her the top seed at the Tokyo Olympics.

The Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for ‘Cooperation in Development of National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal, Gujarat’
NMHC, a world-class facility is to be developed near the ASI site of Lothal, located about 80 kms away from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The complex would be developed as an international tourist destination, where the maritime heritage of India would be showcased.

Notes:
The Union Cabinet has approved ‘Deep Ocean Mission to study biodiversity, impact of climate change, and establish an offshore marine station to explore source of thermal energy.
The Ministry of Earth Sciences is the nodal Ministry of the mission, which aims to develop deep-sea technologies for sustainable use of ocean resources.

The Union Ministry of Commerce has stated that India has exported a total of 1.91 lakh tonne worth Rs 619 crore, during the financial year 2020-21.
In the previous FY 2019-20, the banana exports stood at a higher quantum of 1.95 lakh metric tonne banana valued at Rs 660 crore. India is the largest producer of Banana, with a share of 25% of world output.

The Telangana government recently decided to adopt the Andhra Pradesh government’s flagship scheme, Nadu Nedu. The Telangana government has recently sought a “no objection certificate” from the Andhra Pradesh government over the Mana Badi Nadu Nedu. Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the ‘Nadu-Nedu’ programme which seeks to transform government schools into vibrant and competitive institutions.

The Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi has launched a customized crash course programme for Covid-19 frontline workers, which would make available trained health workers across the country to assist the battle against covid.
The course has been launched with a financial outlay of Rs.276 crore under the Central Component of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 3.0.

Biotech-KISAN is a scientist-farmer partnership scheme launched in 2017. It aims to connect science laboratories with the farmers to find out innovative technologies to be applied at farm level.
Recently, the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) has issued a Special Call for North East Region as a part of its Biotech-KISAN programme, to understand the local problems of the NER farmers and provide scientific solutions to their problems.

Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawarchand Gehlot announced that the Ministry has decided to establish five ’Divyangta Khel Kendra’ in different parts of country.
He also added that Ahemdabad City is identified to open one of such facilities. The Minister was participating in ‘Samajik Adhikarita Shivir’ for distribution of aids and assistive devices to ‘Divyangjan’ under the ADIP Scheme.

43-year-old Laurel Hubbard from New Zealand has been selected as the first transgender athlete to compete at the Tokyo Olympics.
Hubbard will be the first Trans Olympian when she takes part in the super-heavyweight women’s competition. She will compete in the super-heavyweight 87-kg category after testosterone levels required by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) are met.

Every year, the United Nations observe “International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict” on 19th June. This day is observed to raise awareness about this inhuman issue and the urgent need to put an end to conflict-related sexual violence.
A resolution to observe this day was passed in the United Nations General Assembly in 2015.
