Russia and China recently unveiled a roadmap for a joint International Lunar Research Station. The International Lunar Research Station is a comprehensive scientific experiment base with the capability of long-term autonomous operation. The ILRS will become operational from 2036 onwards, providing a range of scientific facilities and equipments.

The National Green Tribunal has set up a committee for rejuvenation of rivers Varuna and Assi in Varanasi, both of which joins the river Ganga.
This move has been made by the tribunal after taking note of the reported discharge of untreated sewage in these rivers and unauthorised constructions on the banks of these rivers.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is a UN agency headquartered at Geneva, Switzerland. It has a mandate to aid and protect refugees across the globe.
Recently, the UNHCR has released its Global Trends report, in which it has stated that war, violence, persecution and human rights violations caused nearly 3 million people to flee their homes last year.

Every year, 18th June is observed as the Sustainable Gastronomy Day by the United Nations. This day was first adopted by the UN in the year 2016.
Gastronomy refers to local food and cuisine. The United Nations defines Sustainable Gastronomy as a cuisine that takes into account where the ingredients are from, how the food is grown and how it gets to our markets and eventually to our plates.

ICMED is the name of the scheme that was launched for Certification of Medical Devices in the year 2016.
Recently, the Quality Council of India (QCI), and the Association of Indian Manufacturers of Medical Devices (AiMeD) have added some features to the scheme. The new scheme is renamed as ICMED 13485 PLUS. It will undertake verification of the quality, safety and efficacy of medical devices.

The Defence Research and Development (DRDO) has recently developed Canopy severance system (CSS) for indigenous aircraft, including LCA Tejas, HJT-36 and HTT-40.
It is an escape path clearance system for the pilot in case of emergencies. The technology was developed by the Pune-based DRDO facilities ARDE and HEMRL. An event for transfer of technology of CSS was held recently.

The Copernicus Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich was launched in November 2020. It is an Ocean-Observing Satellite, dedicated to measuring sea-level rise.
After six months of calibration works, the satellite has recently started functioning. It was a mission of the European Union, being implemented along with ESA, NASA and CNES French Agency. The Copernicus Sentinel-6B satellite will be launched in 2025.

The Union Minister Women and Child Development Smriti Zubin Irani along with Minister of State for Education Sanjay Dhotre have virtually inaugurated the grand finale of Toycathon 2021.
This is being organized jointly by the Union Education Ministry along with 5 other ministries and aims to conceptualize innovative toy making using locally made / available materials.

Notes:
Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru has partnered with IBM to launch the IBM-IISc Hybrid Cloud lab.
The lab aims to advance research in hybrid cloud technologies and promote innovations in this area. Students and faculty of the institution will work along with IBM to conduct researches in hybrid cloud and AI.

Recently, the leaders of the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO) announced a joint platform to help countries access Covid-19 vaccines, treatments and technologies.
