Notes:
The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED) is registered under the Co-operative Societies Act and is established to promote the cooperative marketing of agricultural produce.
Recently, NAFED has launched “Nafed Fortified Rice Bran Oil ”. This is expected to significantly reduce India’s dependence on imported edible oil and would provide an impetus to the Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiative.

The Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for ‘Cooperation in Development of National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal, Gujarat’
NMHC, a world-class facility is to be developed near the ASI site of Lothal, located about 80 kms away from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The complex would be developed as an international tourist destination, where the maritime heritage of India would be showcased.

Notes:
The Asian Development Bank is the lead partner of India in developing the country’s East Coast economic corridor or ECEC.
ADB and the Central government signed a USD 484 million loan in order to improve the transport connectivity through Chennai–Kanyakumari Industrial Corridor (CKIC) in Tamil Nadu. The CKIC is a part of the East Coast economic corridor, which stretches from West Bengal to Tamil Nadu.

Notes:
Google Pay has collaborated with Visa and has announced to expand its cards tokenisation feature. This feature would enable users to make debit or credit card payments in a secure mode using a digital token attached to their phone.
In India, card tokenization feature of google pay has been on boarded to Kotak Mahindra Bank, SBI, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, Federal Bank etc.

Notes:
India Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of M-Yoga app, which will host training videos to be available worldwide in different languages.
The app is a collaborative work between the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (Ministry of AYUSH), Government of India.

The Union Ministry of Education, under the aegis of NCERT has been implementing the capacity building scheme named “NISHTHA”, which aims to improve the quality of school education.
Recently, the Union Tribal Ministry has collaborated with NCERT to conduct capacity building training for teachers of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs). Under this initiative, the first batch of 120 teachers and principals from 3 states completed a 40-day training.

Every year, the United Nations observe “International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict” on 19th June. This day is observed to raise awareness about this inhuman issue and the urgent need to put an end to conflict-related sexual violence.
A resolution to observe this day was passed in the United Nations General Assembly in 2015.

The Defence Research and Development (DRDO) has recently developed Canopy severance system (CSS) for indigenous aircraft, including LCA Tejas, HJT-36 and HTT-40.
It is an escape path clearance system for the pilot in case of emergencies. The technology was developed by the Pune-based DRDO facilities ARDE and HEMRL. An event for transfer of technology of CSS was held recently.

British scientists have warned of “miserable winter” ahead for the country due to the emergence of new respiratory viruses.
The experts describe it as the “fourth wave winter. As the social distancing reduced people’s exposure to usual endemic respiratory viruses such as pneumonia and bronchiolitis, these new viruses emerge after every pandemic.

Notes:
The Copernicus Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich was launched in November 2020. It is an Ocean-Observing Satellite, dedicated to measuring sea-level rise.
After six months of calibration works, the satellite has recently started functioning. It was a mission of the European Union, being implemented along with ESA, NASA and CNES French Agency. The Copernicus Sentinel-6B satellite will be launched in 2025.
