The Union Ministry of Education, under the aegis of NCERT has been implementing the capacity building scheme named “NISHTHA”, which aims to improve the quality of school education.
Recently, the Union Tribal Ministry has collaborated with NCERT to conduct capacity building training for teachers of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs). Under this initiative, the first batch of 120 teachers and principals from 3 states completed a 40-day training.

Every year, the United Nations observes June 21 as International Day of the Celebration of the Solstice.
As per the United Nations, solstices and equinoxes symbolize fertility of the land, agricultural and cultural heritage. Hence the UN General Assembly acknowledged this event and recognized this date for celebration.

The Copernicus Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich was launched in November 2020. It is an Ocean-Observing Satellite, dedicated to measuring sea-level rise.
After six months of calibration works, the satellite has recently started functioning. It was a mission of the European Union, being implemented along with ESA, NASA and CNES French Agency. The Copernicus Sentinel-6B satellite will be launched in 2025.

Serbia has granted market access for Indian horticulture produce such as onion, potato, pomegranate and pomegranate arils.
According to Agriculture and Processed Food Export Development Authority (APEDA), phytosanitary certificate is not required for the export of pomegranates and onion bulbs grown in India, while it is required for the export of potatoes.

Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar released LiDAR-based reports, which map the water requirement within forest areas in 10 states.
WAPCOS, a PSU under the Jal Shakti Ministry conducted this project. These reports will be used to enhance groundwater in forest areas so that animals come out of forests in search of water.

Every year, the United Nations observes 26th June as “International Day in Support of Victims of Torture”.
The United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in its general assembly in the year 1948. In 1975, the UN adopted a Declaration on the Protection of All Persons from Being Subjected to Torture and Other Cruel treatment.

Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Rozgar Yojana was launched to incentivize employers for creation of new employment along with social security benefits during COVID-19 pandemic. It is implemented by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
In the recent package, the Finance Minister announced that Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Rozgar Yojana be extended till 31st March 2022.

UK’s financial regulator has banned Binance, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, from conducting any regulated activity.
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) also issued a warning to consumers about the platform. Trading of cryptocurrencies is not directly regulated in Britain, whereas offering services such as trading in cryptocurrency derivatives requires authorisation.

Indian scientists identified the Delta Variant in October 2020 and submitted to Global Database. Delta variant, also known as SARS-CoV-2 B.1.617, has about 15-17 mutations.
This Delta variant (B.1.617) has three subtypes B1.617.1, B.1.617.2 and B.1.617.3, among which the B.1.617.2 (Delta Plus) has been classified as a Variant of Concern. The Delta Plus variant has an additional mutation named ‘K417N mutation’.

The Government of India has decided to allow the use of ‘flex engines’ in automobiles. Flex Engines are those which can run entirely on ethanol or a blend of petrol and ethanol.
These engines would be powered using ethanol out of farm produce in India and the Government has proposed to launch a special scheme in this regard.
