The Government of India, Government of Mizoram and the World Bank have recently signed a $32 million Mizoram Health Systems Strengthening Project.
It aims to improve management capacity and quality of health services in Mizoram, especially for the benefit of under-served areas and vulnerable groups.

As per a recent statement from the Japanese embassy, Japan will provide India a $10 million assistance to build cold chain facilities for safe storage of vaccines.
This assistance will provide India with cold chain equipment through the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Japan also leads the operationalization of the COVAX facility, to procure vaccines.

An international group of archaeologists have discovered the remains of new human species near the city of Ramla, Israel.
As per the study, these prehistoric remains could not be matched to any known species from the Homo genus, which includes modern humans – Homo sapiens. The ‘Nesher Ramla Homo’ population is estimated to have lived in and around Israel from about 420,000 to 120,000 years ago.

Recently, the leaders of the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO) announced a joint platform to help countries access Covid-19 vaccines, treatments and technologies.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that the state has not reported a single rabies case in the last three years.
This makes Goa the first rabies-free state in the country. The state has achieved over 5 lakh vaccinations against the rabies in dogs. It also has set up 24-hours rabies surveillance with an emergency hotline and rapid response team for dog bite victims.

International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is observed on June 26. The Day is observed worldwide to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving the goal of a sustainable world free of substance abuse.
The theme of the Day this year is ‘Share Facts on Drugs, Save Lives’. The campaign highlights key statistics and data drawn from UNODC’s yearly World Drug Report.

Every year, the United Nations observes 26th June as “International Day in Support of Victims of Torture”.
The United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in its general assembly in the year 1948. In 1975, the UN adopted a Declaration on the Protection of All Persons from Being Subjected to Torture and Other Cruel treatment.

The Union Government has extended the second phase of the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric vehicle (FAME) scheme by 2 years, till 31 March 2024.
The scheme was launched in the year 2019 under the Ministry of Heavy Industries and was initially intended to end by the year 2022. This decision is expected to push sales of electric vehicles in India.

As per a recent report by Chainalysis, investments in cryptocurrency grew from about $200 million to nearly $40 billion in the year 2020.
The Reserve Bank of India, however expressed it has “major concerns” about the asset class. Six months ago, the Indian government proposed a ban on trading in digital coins.

The United Nations Human rights chief released a report on Racial Justice and Inequality and submitted to the UN Human Rights Council.
As per the report, racism against people of African descent still remains systemic in many parts of the world. The report highlighted 190 deaths of Africans and people of African descent globally at the hands of law enforcement officials.
