Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana was launched on July 21, 2017. The scheme recently completed five years since its launch.
Under the scheme, senior citizens above the age of 60 can make a lump sum investment and can monthly or a yearly pension. PMVVY has been extended up to 31st March, 2023. The amendment in 2020 allowed an assured rate of return of 7.40 % per annum for the year 2020-21 per annum and thereafter to be reset every year.

India’s official broadcaster ‘Prasar Bharati’ includes All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan. The Indian Broadcasting Company ltd (IBC) was taken over by the British and transformed into All India Radio (AIR) in 1936.

India and the United Kingdom signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Mutual Recognition of Educational Qualifications including maritime education and a Framework agreement on the health care workforce.
India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations are expected to be concluded by 31st August, 2022.

The running and maintenance of ships of the Union Territory (UT) of Lakshadweep have been handed over to the Shipping Corporation of India to improve shipping operations.
The administration of the Union Territory (UT) announced that out of the five ships in service for the people of Lakshadweep and connecting between islands and Kochi, two are undergoing repairs.

The Government has appointed a joint secretary to the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) Sanjay Kumar Jain, as the interim chief executive officer (CEO) of NLMC.
National Land Management Corporation (NLMC) was incorporated on June 3 as a wholly-owned Government of India company with an initial authorised share capital of Rs 5,000 crore and paid-up share capital of Rs 150 crore.

Sports Authority of India has started a new initiative to cheer for Indian contingent of the Commonwealth Games with the campaign ‘Create for India’.
A 215-member Indian athlete contingent across 16 disciplines is set to participate in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Participants were asked to submit entries using the hashtags #create4India and #cheer4India.

Union Minister of AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated a Vaccination Centre for children at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA).
The Minister also launched the ‘Bal Raksha’ mobile app, to create awareness among parents on paediatric preventive healthcare through Ayurveda intervention. The app will also collect feedback from parents regarding the impact of the kit on their children’s health and immunity.

The two-day Ladakh Tourism Festival-2022 commenced recently in Kargil district. Several cultural programs will be organized, to present the tradition and culture of Kargil district to outsiders.
Incredible India Kargil Marathon was also launched on the occasion. Traditional food stalls, display of traditional sports including horse polo and Archery sports were organised. Zanskar Festival is scheduled in September.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has issued a circular to permit companies to spend their CSR funds for activities related to the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
The campaign is organised to encourage people to bring home the national flag and hoist it to celebrate 75 years of India’s independence. Spending of CSR funds for the activities related to the campaign such as mass scale production and supply of the national flag, outreach efforts and other related activities are eligible CSR activities

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla held a bilateral meeting with the Speaker of the Assembly of Mozambique, who is on a three-day visit to India.
On this occasion, they signed a Memorandum of Cooperation that aims to develop privileged relations between the Parliaments of India and Mozambique based on the principles of equality, reciprocity of benefits and mutual respect.
