Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani replied in Lok Sabha that over 2,000 children have died in specialised adoption agencies since 2014.
As many as 27,085 children have been adopted since 2014. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) developed an application namely Monitoring App for Seamless Inspection (MASI) for real-time monitoring of the Child Care Institutions (CCIs).

The Income Tax department observes July 24 every year as Income Tax Day or ‘Aaykar Diwas’, to commemorate the introduction of income tax in the country.
On the same day in 1860, Sir James Wilson introduced income tax for the first time in India, to compensate for the losses suffered by the British regime during the 1857 war of independence.  ‘Aaykar Diwas’ was celebrated for the first time in 2010, to mark 150 years of income tax in India.

The Union Ministry of Finance has set up a Multi-Agency Group consisting of representatives from various enforcement agencies and organizations for coordinated investigation of foreign asset cases like Panama paper leaks, Paradise paper leaks and the recent Pandora paper leaks.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in the Lok Sabha that there is no official estimate of the amount of money deposited by Indian citizens and companies in Swiss banks.

India’s biggest spectrum auction for 72 Gigahertz of 5G airwaves worth ₹4.3 lakh crore has commenced recently.
Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and a unit of Gautam Adani’s Adani Enterprises are bidding for 5G spectrum. The auction is held for spectrum in various low (600 Mhz, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz), mid (3300 MHz) and high (26 GHz) frequency bands.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved Axis Bank’s acquisition of the consumer banking operations of Citibank and Citicorp Finance (India) Limited.
In March, Citigroup announced that it reached an agreement with Axis Bank for the sale of Citi’s consumer businesses in India. It includes credit cards, retail banking, wealth management and consumer loans.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has issued a circular to permit companies to spend their CSR funds for activities related to the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
The campaign is organised to encourage people to bring home the national flag and hoist it to celebrate 75 years of India’s independence. Spending of CSR funds for the activities related to the campaign such as mass scale production and supply of the national flag, outreach efforts and other related activities are eligible CSR activities

The Indian Navy recently received two MH-60 R multirole helicopters from the United States. The third helicopter is scheduled to be delivered in August this year
In 2019, the United States had approved the sale of 24 MH-60R multi-mission helicopters to India under its Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program.  The MH-60R is the most advanced marine multi-mission helicopter which is in use currently.

The third edition of ‘Kotak Private Banking Hurun – Leading Wealthy Women List’ was released recently.
Roshni Nadar Malhotra, the chairperson of HCL Technologies, is the richest woman in India with a wealth of ₹84,330 crore. She also retained the position for the second year in a row. Falguni Nayar of Nykaa overtook Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw of Biocon to become the richest self-made woman in India with a wealth of ₹57,520 crore.

Reliance Industries (RIL) and Indian Olympic Association (IOA) are set to together establish the first-ever India House at Paris Olympics 2024.
RIL announced a long-term partnership with IOA to elevate the performances of Indian athletes, support national sports federations and build credentials of India as a global sporting nation. RIL will support Indian athletes in all major multi-sport events India is also be hosting the 140th IOC Session in June 2023 at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai.

Notes:
The 2022 Asia Cup will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) while Sri Lanka still being the official host, as per the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
The tournament is played in the UAE for the second consecutive time. India is the defending champion, having won the tournament in 2018 while it was played in the ODI format.
