Notes:
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has cut India’s growth forecast for 2022-23 (FY23) to 7.4 per cent, citing less favourable external conditions and fast policy tightening by RBI.
In its update to the April World Economic Outlook, the IMF said that global recession in 2022 was ruled out with a growth estimate of 3.2 per cent. Asian Development Bank recently slashed its growth projection for India to 7.2 per cent for FY23, from 7.5 per cent.

The World Hepatitis Day (WHD) takes places every year on 28 July to raise awareness of the global burden of Hepatitis.
‘Hepatitis can’t wait’ is the new theme of World Hepatitis Day 2022. One person dies every 30 seconds from a hepatitis related illness. 28 July was chosen because it is the birthday of Nobel-prize winning scientist Dr Baruch Blumberg, who discovered hepatitis B virus (HBV) and developed a diagnostic test and vaccine for the virus.

International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Georgetown University and the UN University issued first-ever global policy framework to protect children displaced due to climate change.
‘The Guiding Principles for Children on the Move in the Context of Climate Change’ comprises a set of nine principles to address the vulnerabilities of children who were forced for internal as well cross-border migrations.

The Union Cabinet approved Rs 1,64,000-crore revival package for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). The Cabinet also approved the merger of BSNL and BBNL (Bharat Broadband Network Limited).
Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the package will aim to improve the quality of BSNL services, to de-stress the balance sheet, and to expand the company’s fiber reach. The government is approving a sovereign guarantee bond issuance for BSNL to repay bank loans.

England’s the Leicester Cricket Ground has been named after Indian cricketer and former Captain, Sunil Gavaskar. He was the first cricketer to score 10,000 runs and also held the record for most number (34) of centuries once.
He was also part of the Indian team that won the 1983 World Cup. There is another ground named after Sunil Gavaskar in the Kentucky area of the United States of America (USA)

The Eleventh Agricultural Census (2021-22) was recently launched by the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar.
Agriculture Census is conducted every 5 years in India and this is the first time the data collection will be conducted on smart phones and tablets. Agricultural Census is the main source of information on the number and area of ​​operational holdings, their size, class-wise distribution, land use, tenancy and cropping pattern, etc.

India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier— Vikrant was built and delivered to the Indian Navy by Cochin Shipyards Limited (CSL).
CSL, the public sector shipyard, under the Ministry of Shipping, has built the carrier with 76 per cent indigenisation components. Vikrant will be commissioned into the Indian Navy as Indian Naval Ship (INS) Vikrant.

Notes:
The Indian Navy recently received two MH-60 R multirole helicopters from the United States. The third helicopter is scheduled to be delivered in August this year
In 2019, the United States had approved the sale of 24 MH-60R multi-mission helicopters to India under its Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program.  The MH-60R is the most advanced marine multi-mission helicopter which is in use currently.

The United Nations General Assembly adopted a historic resolution that recognised that everyone, everywhere, has a human right to live in a clean, healthy and sustainable environment.
India has voted in favour of the UN General Assembly resolution but raised its concerns over the procedure and substance of the resolution.

Reliance Industries (RIL) and Indian Olympic Association (IOA) are set to together establish the first-ever India House at Paris Olympics 2024.
RIL announced a long-term partnership with IOA to elevate the performances of Indian athletes, support national sports federations and build credentials of India as a global sporting nation. RIL will support Indian athletes in all major multi-sport events India is also be hosting the 140th IOC Session in June 2023 at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai.
