Tech Major Google announced the launch of Start-up School India (SSI) as part of the Google for Start-ups initiative.
This is a platform under which Google will bring together investors, entrepreneurs and programmers and provide opportunities to start-ups from small cities to interact and learn from them. Google aims to reach out to at least 10,000 start-ups with this programme.

Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Secretary General, Mohammad Barkindo, has passed away at the age of 63.
Nigeria’s Barkindo headed the Organization since 2016 and was scheduled to be replaced by Kuwait’s Haitham Al-Ghais next month. Under his leadership, the cartel tied up with 10 other oil-producing countries, such as Russia, to form a wider group known as OPEC+.

Former NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant has been named as India’s new Sherpa for the G-20, replacing Piyush Goyal, Minister for Commerce & Industry and Consumer Affairs.
India is set to assume G-20 presidency from December 1, 2022 to November 30, 2023. The Sherpa will attend meetings that will be held in different parts of the country.

Several states of the United States namely Nebraska, Minnesota and Illinois were hit by a storm system called a derecho.
As the storm hit several places witnessed the skies turning green. Derecho is defined as the long-lived, straight-line windstorm that is associated with a band of rapidly moving showers or thunderstorms.

As per the recent notification by the Finance Ministry, sale of the Indian national flag is exempt from the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
The Indian national flag, irrespective of whether machine made or of polyester, is exempt from the Goods and Services Tax (GST). Hand-woven, hand-spun national flags made of cotton, silk, wool or Khadi are already exempt from GST.

23-year-old player Elena Rybakina became the first player from Kazakhstan to win a grand slam title. She also became the youngest Wimbledon champion since 2011.
Novak Djokovic won his fourth straight Wimbledon men’s singles title, and his 21st grand slam title overall. He is now one grand slam title behind the all-time record set by Rafael Nadal of 22.

The Singalila National Park, the highest protected area in West Bengal has launched a programme to release about 20 red pandas in a period of five years.
West Bengal’s Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park has started this programme to release 20 of red pandas (Ailurus fulgens) into the forests.

Jharkhand has topped in the delta ranking of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Rurban Mission with composite score of 76.19 in the month of June.
The state has improved its position to eighth place in overall ranking of the mission, which was launched by the Central Government in 2016. It aims to promote local economic development, enhancing basic services and creating well planned Rurban clusters.

Indonesia’s shuttler Chico Aura clinched the Malaysia Masters badminton title after defeating Hong Kong star Angus Ng Ka-long.
The 24-year-old Indonesian, who is ranked 45th in the world, triumphed over 28-year-old Ng in straight sets.

‘World Population Day’ is observed every year on July 11. This year the theme is ‘A world of 8 billion: Towards a resilient future for all – Harnessing opportunities and ensuring rights and choices for all’.
The Day was first marked on 11 July 1990 in more than 90 countries, to focus attention on the urgency and importance of population issues.
