National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) is a regulatory body that controls the prices of pharmaceutical drugs in India.
It functions under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. NPPA has recently fixed the retail prices for 84 drug formulations, including those used for treatment of diabetes, headache and high blood pressure.

Rahul Narwekar, a first-time MLA, was elected as the Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly defeating Shiv Sena candidate Rajan Salvi.
The 45-year old leader is the youngest speaker of India, as of now. Earlier Eknath Shinde took over as the new Chief Minister while Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra.

India’s services industry expanded at the fastest rate in over eleven years in June 2022 amid strong demand.
The S&P Global India Services Purchasing Managers’ Index rose to 59.2 in June, its highest since April 2011. As per the survey, stubborn inflation remains a concern as prices charged rose at the sharpest rate in almost five years.

Delhi will host its first ever government-backed shopping festival from January 28 to February 26 2023.
As per the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the festival will have 200 concerts for entertainment, food walks. It was one of the projects proposed in the Rozgaar Budget 2022-23 presented by deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia.

Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Secretary General, Mohammad Barkindo, has passed away at the age of 63.
Nigeria’s Barkindo headed the Organization since 2016 and was scheduled to be replaced by Kuwait’s Haitham Al-Ghais next month. Under his leadership, the cartel tied up with 10 other oil-producing countries, such as Russia, to form a wider group known as OPEC+.

Indiastack.global was launched by the Prime Minister, which is a single repository of all major projects on India Stack. The Indian government has decided to share with the world the many e-governance tools including Aadhaar, the DigiLocker, CoWin Platform, the Government e-Marketplace, and Ayushman Bharat Digital Health Mission.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam on the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
It will be a platform for academicians, policymakers and leaders to deliberate their experiences and discuss the roadmap for effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The Prime Minister also inaugurated the Akshay Patra Mid-Day Meal Kitchen at LT College.

Several states of the United States namely Nebraska, Minnesota and Illinois were hit by a storm system called a derecho.
As the storm hit several places witnessed the skies turning green. Derecho is defined as the long-lived, straight-line windstorm that is associated with a band of rapidly moving showers or thunderstorms.

The Enforcement Directorate’s (ED’s) money-laundering probe into mobile phone maker Vivo India has revealed that the company remitted about Rs 62,476 crore of its turn-over to China between 2017 and 2021, to avoid paying taxes in India.
According to an official, Vivo India’s books showed losses in most of its associate firms while transferring money to China.

State-run engineering firm Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has successfully commissioned 100-MW floating Solar photovoltaic plant at NTPC Ramagundam in Telangana.
The plant is installed across the natural raw water reservoir, saving valuable land resources, and also conserves water by reducing evaporation. All major components of the solar plant namely solar PV modules, floaters, biodegradable natural ester oil filled inverter-duty transformers, switchgear, SCADA and cables are indigenous.
