A unit of Russian nuclear major Rosatom State Corporation has signed an agreement to supply thermocouples for four power units of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) in Tamil Nadu.
LUCH Scientific Production Association, part of the R&D unit of Rosatom will provide the new sensors designed for thermal control of NPP process equipment.

The details of new discoveries and new records of fauna and flora were published by Bhupendra Yadav, Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, at Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) Kolkata
India added 540 species to its faunal database in 2021 taking the total number of animal species to 1,03,258. A new mammal species Crocidura narcondamica, a white-toothed shrew, was found in the Andaman and Nicobar group of islands.

Delhi government launched ‘Mission Kushal Karmi’ to upgrade the skills of construction workers. It was launched with the help of Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) and Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
The government aims to train 2 lakh workers in a year under this programme. To compensate for the loss of wages during the training, all the construction workers will be provided with an amount of Rs 4,200 each.

Kanaganahalli is an ancient Buddhist site on the bank of Bhima River in Kalaburagi district of the state of Karnataka.
It forms a part of the Sannati site. Archaeological Survey of India has now taken up conservation work at this Buddhist site.

The Union Health Ministry has released the draft ‘Drug, Medical Devices, and Cosmetics Bill-2022’ that seeks to regulate e-pharmacies.
The bill proposes new definitions for clinical trial, over-the-counter drugs, manufacturers, medical devices, new drugs, bioavailability study, investigational new drug and imported spurious drugs, among others.

Information and Broadcasting Ministry unveiled new logo of country’s Public Service Broadcaster, Prasar Bharati.
Prasar Bharati is a statutory autonomous body set up by an act of Parliament and comprises Doordarshan and All India Radio. The new logo is also a blend of both the organisations. The map of India signifies the service of trust and the dark moderate blue colour represents both sky and sea.

India achieved a world record for construction of longest Double Decker Viaduct in Nagpur with 3.14 kilo meters.
The Maharashtra Metro and NHAI also constructed the highest number of metro stations on the Double Decker Viaduct, which has been recognized by Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records.

As per the recent data released by the NSO, retail inflation slowed down marginally to 7.01 per cent in June from 7.04 per cent in May 2022 due to moderation in food inflation.
The inflation rate continued to remain above the 7 per cent mark for the third month in a row. It is higher than the Reserve Bank of India’s target of 2+/-4 per cent for the medium term, for two quarters.

Ola Electric launched the country’s first indigenously developed lithium ion cell. The Bengaluru-based two-wheeler maker is set to begin the mass production of the cell ‘NMC 2170’, from its Chennai-based Gigafactory by 2023.
The cell packs more energy in a given space and also improves the overall life cycle of the cell, due to the specific chemicals and materials used.

The Biggest super-moon of 2022 is observed in the month of July in 2022. According to NASA, the term ‘supermoon’ was coined by Richard Nolle, an astrologer, in 1979. It refers to a new or a full moon that occurs when the moon is within 90% of a perigee, at its closest approach to the earth.
Buck supermoon was named in the 1930s by the Maine Farmer’s Almanac. Another name for this supermoon is the ‘Thunder Moon’.
