The government introduced certification of authenticity for jute products with the launch of “Jute Mark India” logo. It is an initiative to promote Indian jute products.
JMI was implemented under an umbrella scheme for development and promotion of the jute sector between FY 2022 and FY 2026 with a total financial outlay of Rs 485.58 crore. Each Jute Mark label will contain a unique QR code with information on producer. National Jute Board is the nodal agency of the Union textiles ministry, responsible for the promotion of jute and jute products.

Ola Electric launched the country’s first indigenously developed lithium ion cell. The Bengaluru-based two-wheeler maker is set to begin the mass production of the cell ‘NMC 2170’, from its Chennai-based Gigafactory by 2023.
The cell packs more energy in a given space and also improves the overall life cycle of the cell, due to the specific chemicals and materials used.

The Union Cabinet has approved the decision for free COVID-19 Precaution Dose for all the citizens above 18 years of age at Government vaccination centres, from 15th July 2022 till the next 75 days.
The decision was taken as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, to expand India’s vaccination coverage.

ReNew recently became the first Indian Renewable Energy Company to refinance dollar-denominated bonds
This refinancing has cut the INR interest cost of the bonds by 200 basis points. ReNew Energy Global has successfully refinanced its 2024 maturity dollar-denominated bonds with amortising project debt from an Indian non-bank financial company.

Veteran social worker and Padma Shri awardee Avdhash Kaushal passed away recently after a prolonged illness at the age of 84.
Kaushal founded and headed the non-governmental organisation (NGO) called ‘Rural Litigation and Entitlement Kendra (RLEK)’, for development work amongst tribal hill communities in the areas of Jaunsar-Bawar, Dehradun. He was known for abolition of bonded labour system and securing the rights of marginalised communities in the region.

SpaceX’s 25th cargo flight to the International Space Station (ISS) for NASA was launched recently. It is also called as CRS-25 (Commercial resupply services).
The robotic Dragon launched atop a two-stage Falcon 9 rocket, which delivered Dragon to low Earth orbit.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched the P17A stealth frigate Dunagiri, named after a mountain range in Uttarakhand.
It was built by PSU Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers. P17A ships are guided-missile frigates and Dunagiri is the fourth P17A ship.  The first two ships of the P17A Project were launched in 2019 and 2020. The third ship ‘Udaygiri’, was recently launched in Mumbai.

Filmmakers Aparna Sen and Nandita Das have been awarded the Icon Award at the 2022 London Indian Film Festival for their contribution to Indian and global cinema.
The London Indian Film Festival (LIFF) was held across four cities of London, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds.

Brijendra Kumar Syngal, who is also referred to as father of Internet in India, passed away recently at the age of 82.
He was the former chairman of Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited. Under his leadership, the company rolled out India’s internet service and launched its biggest global depository receipt issue. He was earlier associated with satellite communications company Inmarsat.

The city of Varanasi will be declared the first Cultural and Tourism Capital of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
Varanasi will become the Capital of SCO for 2022-23 under a new rotating initiative by the eight-member organisation, which aims to promote people-to-people contacts and tourism among the member states.
