The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai has recently become the first railway station in India to be equipped with augmented reality screens.
The technology will allow passengers at the station to get real-time digitised time table with a dedicated scrolling screen and railway information for an engaging experience. The Central Railway also launched pod hotel at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus.

Notes:
The Union Health Ministry has released the draft ‘Drug, Medical Devices, and Cosmetics Bill-2022’ that seeks to regulate e-pharmacies.
The bill proposes new definitions for clinical trial, over-the-counter drugs, manufacturers, medical devices, new drugs, bioavailability study, investigational new drug and imported spurious drugs, among others.

The Japanese government has decided to award former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe with the country’s highest order posthumously.
Abe, the longest-serving PM of Japan will be the fourth former prime minister to receive the Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum. The leader was recently shot dead during his campaign speech.

After the rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde took oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, the Cabinet reversed the previous government’s decision to relocate a proposed Mumbai Metro shed project from Aarey Colony.
Several activists from Mumbai have been fighting to preserve the green space of Mumbai. Aarey Forest is an urban forest which is within the eco sensitive zone of Sanjay Gandhi National Park.

The International Rice Research Institute is an international agricultural research and training organization with its headquarters in Los Baños, Laguna in the Philippines. It was founded in 1960.
India’s Department of Agriculture & Farmer Welfare (DA&FW) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) for Phase -2 activities of IRRI South Asia Regional Centre (ISARC).

Ministry of Women and Child Development has issued detailed guidelines for ‘Mission Shakti’ scheme.
‘Mission Shakti’  was launched as an integrated women empowerment programme as umbrella scheme for the safety, security and empowerment of women for implementation during the 15th Finance Commission period 202l-22 to 2025-26. ‘Mission Shakti’ has two sub-schemes – ‘Sambal’ and ‘Samarthya’. A new component of Nari Adalats (women courts) to facilitate alternative dispute resolution was also announced.

The Maharashtra government led by Eknath Shinde restored the ‘Emergency pension scheme’, which was scrapped by the Uddhav Thackeray-led government in 2020.
The pension scheme meant for those political activists who were imprisoned during the Emergency imposed in 1975. It was introduced by the Devendra Fadnavis government in 2018.

The Telangana government decided in 2021 to move landless, non-tribal farmers engaged in shifting cultivation inside forests to peripheral areas, to combat deforestation.
Some parties have announced protests and rallies in the support of rights of adivasis and tribals in forest areas.

Indian Naval Warship, INS Satpura and P8I LRMRASW aircraft are taking part in one of the largest multilateral naval exercises, the Rim of the Pacific exercise (RIMPAC).
The exercise involving the Navies of 28 friendly foreign countries is held at Pearl Harbour in Hawaii, a state in the United States. INS Satpura is an indigenously designed and built 6000-tonne guided missile stealth frigate.

Public sector lender Punjab National Bank (PNB) has gone live on the account aggregator ecosystem as financial information user (FIU) as well as financial information provider (FIP).
Union Bank of India, Canara Bank and Indian Bank have also connected to the account aggregator system. Other banks including SBI, BOB and UCO Bank are in the testing phase and some others are in the development phase.
