The Global Gender Gap Index for 2022 was recently released by the World Economic Forum (WEF).
Iceland (90.8%) led the global ranking in the first place while India is ranked at 135 out of 146 countries. Last year, India was ranked 140 out of 156 countries. As per the report, it will take another 132 years to close the global gender gap.

Notes:
Kerala, also called as ‘God’s own country’, has been included in the list of the “World’s 50 Greatest Places of 2022” by Time Magazine. TIME has described Kerala as ‘one of India’s most beautiful states.
India’s first UNESCO World Heritage City, Ahmedabad has also been included in the list of the World’s 50 Greatest Places of 2022.

Notes:
The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has issued an advisory to e-commerce platforms on the sale of Ayurvedic, Siddha and Unani (AYUSH) drugs.
As per the advisory, e-commerce platforms should sell Ayurvedic, Siddha and Unani drugs only after customers upload valid medical prescriptions from the registered practitioners on the platforms.

Notes:
After a week-long gang violence in Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince, at least 89 people dead. Raising prices, fuel shortages and gang warfare accelerated worsened the security situation in Port-au-Prince.
The violence erupted between two rival factions in Cite Soleil, an impoverished and densely populated neighborhood of Port-au-Prince.

Build-operate-transfer (BOT) and Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) are the public private partnership models that are being used in execution of national highway projects.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to return to funding through private investments and plans to offer over two highway up-gradation projects to private players using the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model during the current quarter.

Notes:
The World Day for International Justice is observed on July 17 every year to sensitise on international justice and to promote the rights of the victims.
It is also known as the Day of International Criminal Justice, and celebrates the approval of the Rome Statute and the formation of the new international criminal justice system in 1998. Over 139 countries have signed the International Criminal Court’s Treaty.

Notes:
Tardigrades are a group of microscopic invertebrates that are known for their ability to survive extreme conditions. It was first discovered in 1773.
It is also known as ‘water bears or moss piglets’ and they can live for up to 60 years, and grow to a maximum size of 0.5 mm. Recently a species named ‘Cornechiniscus mystacinus’ was founded in Kyrgyztan.  The species is yellow to dark orange in color, has a large body, , round, black crystalline eyes, long peribuccal cirri, and smooth claws.

MCA21 is India’s first mission mode e-governance project. As per the Secretary of Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the Version 3.0 of MCA21 will be fully rolled out in the next two to three months.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is actively involved with the Ministry in the rollout of MCA V3.0.

Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR CIFT) recently launched a national campaign on ‘Fish for Health and Prosperity’.
ICAR-CIFT is located in Kochi, Kerala. The campaign highlighted the importance of fish as a nutritious food for humans and alleviating malnutrition in society. It was launched as a mark of commemorating the 75th year of Indian independence as ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

Notes:
The Reserve Bank of India has hiked the minimum capital adequacy ratio (CAR) for Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs) to 12 per cent from the earlier ratio of 9 per cent.
The requirement is applied for Tier 1 banks, with deposits above Rs 100 crore. RBI has also provided a path till March 2026 to meet revised CAR norm in phases, for UCBs that don’t meet it currently. This is based on recommendations of a panel headed by N S Vishwanathan, former Deputy Governor.
