Information and Broadcasting Ministry unveiled new logo of country’s Public Service Broadcaster, Prasar Bharati.
Prasar Bharati is a statutory autonomous body set up by an act of Parliament and comprises Doordarshan and All India Radio. The new logo is also a blend of both the organisations. The map of India signifies the service of trust and the dark moderate blue colour represents both sky and sea.

The Meghalaya has launched a roadmap to invest in early childhood education programmes, to revamp elementary education in Meghalaya.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma announced that the government has earmarked Rs 300 crore from externally aided projects to make investment in early childhood education programmes.

India’s U-20 wrestling team bagged 22 medals, including four gold in the Asian U-20 Wrestling Championship, held in Manama, Bahrain.
India also claimed nine silver and nine bronze medals in the event. Among the 22 medals, the women’s team won 10 medals including three gold medals. Indian wrestlers clinched 8 medals in U-15 Asian Wrestling Championship.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), has introduced Paper Import Monitoring System (PIMS).
DGFT has amended the import policy of major paper products from ‘Free’ to ‘Free subject to compulsory registration under PIMS’. The system shall come into effect from 1st October, 2022. As per PIMS, an importer will be required to obtain an automatic registration number through online system.

US aviation company Lockheed Martin has delivered a compact directed energy weapon to the Air Force Research Laboratory of the US Air Force (USAF).
The energy weapon is known as Laser Advancements of Next-Generation Compact Environments (LANCE). The development is significant due to the efforts to reduce the size of the laser energy weapon and it is now ready to be tested after being mounted on an aircraft.

Indian Tech Major Infosys announced that it will acquire Denmark-based BASE life science for about 110 million euros (Rs 875 crore).
This acquisition will deepen the expertise of Infosys in life sciences domain and strengthen its footprint across Europe. BASE life science has finest industry experts across Denmark, Switzerland, UK, Germany, France, Italy, and a near-shore technology hub in Spain.

Varanasi was nominated as the first SCO Tourism and Cultural Capital for 2022-23 at the SCO Council of Heads of State meeting in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on September 16, 2022. The initiative is rotated among SCO member states to promote cultural cooperation. Multiple events for SCO delegates and artists were hosted in Varanasi throughout 2022-23 under this program.

The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare released the Second Advance Estimates of Area and Production of various Horticultural Crops for 2021-22
Total Horticulture production in 2021-22 is estimated to be 341.63 Million Tonne, an increase of about 7.03 Million Tonne over 2020-21. Increase in production of Fruits, Vegetables and Honey while decrease in production of Spices, Flowers, Aromatics & Medicinal Plants and Plantation Crops over previous year, is expected.

The US House of Representatives has passed a legislative amendment that approves waiver to India against the punitive CAATSA sanctions for its purchase of the S-400 missile defence system from Russia.
Countering America’s Adversaries through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) is a US law that authorises the US administration to impose sanctions on countries that purchase major defence hardware from Russia in response to Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014.

Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR CIFT) recently launched a national campaign on ‘Fish for Health and Prosperity’.
ICAR-CIFT is located in Kochi, Kerala. The campaign highlighted the importance of fish as a nutritious food for humans and alleviating malnutrition in society. It was launched as a mark of commemorating the 75th year of Indian independence as ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
