The 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held in next month in South Africa. The Indian trio of GS Lakshmi, Vrinda Rathi, and Janani Narayanan are included in the group.

The entomologists have named a new genus of wasp after Soliga, an indigenous community of Biligiri Rangan Hills in Karnataka.
The new genus has been named as Soliga ecarinata in an acknowledgement of the Soliga lifestyle and in recognition of their conservation of forests and biodiversity.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Germany’s Rolls Royce Solutions for manufacturing high-quality marine diesel engines.
Under the agreement, GRSE and Rolls Royce Solutions will cooperate in the licence production and localisation of the technologically advanced MTU S4000 governmental marine engines.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal government is set to introduce e-scooter services in the city to mitigate the last-mile connectivity issues.
By next year, 1500 e-scooters will be introduced across 250 locations. As per the Chief Minister, a pilot project will be run from Dwarka since it has many metro stations and bus stops. The scooters will be self-driven, and its users can rent them using an integrated bus and metro card.

Tata Trusts are setting up endowment funding entities on the lines of the US-based Burroughs Wellcome Fund.
This is aimed at reducing dependence on dividend income earned from Tata Sons. The Burroughs Wellcome Fund is an independent foundation dedicated to advance medical sciences by supporting research.

Researchers from tech giant Google have created Artificial Intelligence that can generate minutes-long musical pieces from text prompts.
The AI can even transform a whistled or hummed melody into other instruments.  The model is called MusicLM, and the company uploaded a bunch of samples that it produced using the model.

The President of India Droupadi Murmu addressed the 31st Foundation Day of the National Commission for Women in Delhi.
The theme of the programme is ‘Sashakt Nari Sashakt Bharat’ aimed at acknowledging and celebrating the stories of women who have excelled and paved their journey to leave a mark. NCW was founded in January 1992 as a statutory body under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990.

Dust particles in Jamshedpur and adjoining areas in Jharkhand have a heavy concentration of toxic metals.
Though they are not carcinogenic, the particles pose a high health risk, especially for children. Thgis was revealed at a conference held by the state pollution control board and Ranchi Municipal Corporation in association with ASAR, an organisation working on clean air and environment. As of now, Ranchi does not have any government-operated continuous air quality monitoring system.

Eminent artists Doly Jahur and Ilias Kanchan will be honoured with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ for their contribution to the film Industry in Bangladesh.
This was announced in the National Film Awards 2021 recently announced in the country. Lal Moroger Jhuti (Call of the Red Rooster) and Nona Joler Kabbo (The Salt in our waters) will be jointly awarded in the Best Film Category.

As per the Union budget 2023-24, the government proposed to increase the agricultural credit target to ₹20 lakh crore with a focus on animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries.
The target has been increased from Rs 18 lakh crore, with an increase of 11.11% year on year. An Agriculture Accelerator Fund will be set up to encourage agri-startups by young entrepreneurs. The agriculture sector has been growing at an average annual growth rate of 4.6 per cent in the last six years.
