President of India Droupadi Murmu appointed governors in 12 states and a Union Territory while accepting the resignation of two. Jharkhand governor Ramesh Bais is now Governor of Maharashtra and Arunachal Pradesh governor B D Mishra has been appointed as L-G of Ladakh.

Saudi Arabia will send its first ever woman astronaut on a space mission later this year. The woman astronaut Rayyana Barnawi will join Ali Al-Qarni on a 10-day mission to the International Space Station (ISS).
They will fly to the ISS aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft as part of a mission by the private space company Axiom Space. Along with them will be Peggy Whitson, a former NASA astronaut. UAE was the first Arab country to send one of its citizens into space in 2019.

Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has informed that the Bima Sugam portal will be an insurance market infrastructure.
Insurers, distribution networks and the policy holders can virtually meet across the digital platform. The portal is expected to improve accessibility and ease of insurance purchase to policyholders.

eSanjeevani, also known as National Teleconsultation Service, is a government initiative that provides online outpatient doctor (OPD) consultation service to citizens.
This first-of-its-kind scheme was launched in 2019 and it is being implemented by the Union Health Ministry. The eSanjeevani OPD portal and system was developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC). The platform recently registered a new record by delivering teleconsultation services to 10 crore beneficiaries.

The “Analysis of State Electric Vehicle Policies and Their Impact” Report was released recently by Climate Trends.
According to the report, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh have the most comprehensive EV policies. Over the last 5 years, 16 of the 26 states and UTs have released EV policies between 2020 and 2022.

The Digital Services Act was approved by the European Union in 2022 to update the bloc’s legal framework on illegal content, transparent advertising and disinformation on intermediaries and harmonize similar national laws in the EU.
Tech giants like Google, Twitter and Meta are facing stricter rules under the Digital Services Act. This Act categorizes those companies having more than 45 million users as very large online platforms. They are subject to obligations under the law like risk management and external and independent auditing.

India International Seafood Show (IISS) concluded in Kolkata, as the government aims to double seafood exports by 2025.
A total of 370 business meets were held during the event to boost seafood export. Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) and Seafood Exporters Association of India organised the event. India’s renewed seafood exports target will earn 14 billion US dollars by 2025 as against USD 7.76 billion in 2021-22.

Indian Railways launches Rail Post Gati Shakti Express Cargo Service to provide logistics for services sector in country simultaneously on four sectors.
The Cargo Service is a joint parcel product of the two entities between Indian Railways and India Post. The service was among the announcements made by Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in last year’s Budget.

World Bank President David Malpass said he would leave his post well before his five-year term term ends
His five-year term was due to end in April 2024. Malpass has been under pressure in recent months to accelerate reforms aimed at changing the way the World Bank operates to to combat climate change.

World Economic Forum (WEF) recently released the ‘Global Security Outlook Report 2023’ in collaboration with Accenture.
It warned that the cyber-attacks are expected to cause an unprecedented threat in the coming 2 years. The report also predicts catastrophic cyber events mainly due to the present geopolitical instability.
