The 3rd ASEAN Digital Ministers (ADGMIN) meeting with India was held on a virtual platform. India and Philippines co-chaired the meeting and adopted India-ASEAN Digital Work Plan 2023.
In 2022, ASEAN India Friendship Year was celebrated, commemorating 30th anniversary of establishment of dialogue relations with ASEAN. It was held under the theme ‘Synergy Towards a Sustainable Digital Future’.

President of India Droupadi Murmu appointed governors in 12 states and a Union Territory while accepting the resignation of two Governors namely Maharashtra’s Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Ladakh’s Radha Krishnan Mathur.
Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais is now Governor of Maharashtra and Arunachal Pradesh governor Brigadier B D Mishra (retired) has been appointed as Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.

MicroLEDs are self-illuminating diodes that have brighter and better colour reproduction than Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display technology.
Apple is currently working on this display technology and plans to implement on future watch models starting in 2024 and expand to phones and desktops. This is considered as the next big transition in display technology.

Article 93 of the Indian Constitution mandates the election of the Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha.
The Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha is the second-highest ranking legislative official in the House of the People. The Supreme Court recently issued notices to the Centre and five states namely Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand over the failure to elect a Deputy Speaker.

The Cabinet Committee on Security recently gave noted to a proposal that sought to raise 7 new battalion of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).
ITBP is a paramilitary force in India tasked with guarding the country’s border with China along the Himalayan mountain range. Established in 1962 after the Indo-China war, the ITBP operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Best Tourism Village Competition was launched recently by the Union Ministry of Tourism. A portal related to the same was also launched along with the Rural Tourism Portal and the Global Tourism Investor Summit 2023 portal.
The Competition to recognize the best tourism village from across India. It will be organized in 3 stages. It will seek entries from district level, state level and the national level. The villages will be evaluated based on Sustainable Development Goals.

The Shrama Shakthi Scheme was launched recently by the Karnataka Government. Under this scheme, the state government will provide a financial aid of Rs.500 per head every month to landless women farm labourers.
It will be implemented through the direct benefit transfer (DBT). Free bus passes for working women, school and college going girl students, Free skill training initiative for women are part of the scheme.

Indian Army organised a Women’s Snow Cricket Tournament in the bordering area of North Kashmir, under the Khelo India initiative, for local female cricketers.
For the first time, Indian Army along with the locals organised a Women’s Cricket Tournament for the local female cricketers in the area.

The Tourism Ministry will organise first Global Tourism Investors’ Summit from this year in New Delhi to showcase opportunities in the Tourism and hospitality sector.
The Summit will deliberate on potential opportunities for investment across tourism segments including hotels and restaurants, adventure and eco-tourism, cruise, and other related tourism sectors.

The first-ever G20 Culture Working Group (CWG) meeting is set to take place in Khajuraho, India. It will focus on protecting and restoring cultural property.
This exhibition will showcase 25 artifacts that have been returned to India after being smuggled out of the country. The CWG’s goal is to reduce illicit trafficking of cultural property by 2030, regulate online trading platforms, and raise public awareness about restitution laws and conventions.
