National Panchayat Awards 2023 were conferred recently by Panchayati Raj Ministry to recognize best performing Panchayats in the areas that align with the 17 SHGs.
Telangana won 8 out of 27 various categories of the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar (DDUPSVP) for the years 2021 – 2022. It was followed by Kerala with 4, Jammu and Kashmir with 3, and Maharashtra with 3.

State Energy Efficiency Index 2021-22 was developed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency in collaboration with the Alliance for an Energy-Efficient Economy.
In SEEI 2021-22, 5 states – Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan and Telangana – are in the Front Runner category (>60 points) while 4 states are in the Achiever category. Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Chandigarh are the top-performing states in their respective state groups. Telangana and Andhra Pradesh showed the most improvement since the last index.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force has developed a new domestically-build suicide drone which can destroy targets within a range of 450 kilometers.
The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), dubbed Me’raj 532, has a piston engine has a one-way range of 450 kilometers. The kamikaze drone was designed and manufactured by young Iranian experts.

The government has retained the interest rate payable on savings in General Provident Fund (GPF) at 7.1% for the April to June 2023 quarter.
Interest rates on General Provident Fund (GPF) are revised periodically according to the government’s issued notifications.

The Agartala-Akhaura New Rail Link Project is an under-construction rail link project that connects Agartala (Tripura) and Akhaura (Bangladesh). This strategically important project would be a game-changer and boost economic relationship between India and Bangladesh.
Under this project, there will be an integrated checkpoint next to the Nischintapur railway yard that will connect travellers to the Agartala-Akhaura Rail Link station.

The Bathinda military station is the headquarters of the 10 Corps of the Army, also called as the Chetak Corps). Recently, four Army jawans in this military station were killed.
Bathinda Police arrested one solider in connection with a military station firing incident, who has confessed the crime.

According to the guidelines, the quantum of penal charges should be comparative to the defaults/non-compliance of material terms.

Juice jacking is the term that was coined in 2011 to describe the security vulnerability created due to the tampering of the USB charging station to compromise linked devices.
The FBI recently warned people not to use public phone charging station or USB ports due to the presence of this threat.

Bohag Bihu is an ethnic festival celebrated in North-eastern India, especially in Assam. This year, this 7-day festival will be celebrated in Assam from April 14 to April 20.
It celebrates the onset of the Assamese new year. It is also called as the Rongali Bihu. The first day of the Bihu is dedicated to cattle, which provides livelihood.

Notes:
World Chagas Disease Day is observed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) on April 14. It raises awareness about the Chagas disease.
Chagas is a communicable parasitic disease that infected over 6 to 7 million people.  The theme for 2023 is Time to integrate Chagas disease into primary health care.
