The Good Friday Agreement is a pair of agreements signed on 10 April 1998 that ended most of the violence in Northern Ireland that had prevailed since the late 1960s. The year 2023 marks the 25th anniversary of Good Friday Agreement.
Northern Ireland’s present devolved system of government is based on the agreement. It is made up of the Multi-Party Agreement between most of Northern Ireland’s political parties, and the British–Irish Agreement.

Tamil Nadu’s Cumbum grapes, also known as Cumbum Panneer Thratchai, recently received GI tag. It constitutes 85 percent of the grapes grown in Tamil Nadu.
The Cumbum valley also called Kambam Valley, located at the Western Ghats in Tamil Nadu, is known as the ‘Grapes city of South India’.

The United has declared that the powerful synthetic opioid fentanyl combined with xylazine – an animal tranquilizer is an “emerging threat” facing the United States.
Xylazine is increasingly being used in illicit drugs and it is seen as a threat due to its role in the ongoing opioid crisis.

The Raman Research Institute is an institute for scientific research located in Bangalore, India. It was founded by Nobel laureate C. V. Raman in 1948.
The autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology recently signed an MoU with the Indian Navy’s Weapons and Electronics Systems Engineering Establishment (WESEE) for the development of secure maritime communications using quantum technologies.

Mukhyamantri Vidhwa Evam Ekal Nari Awas Yojna is set to be launched by the Himachal Pradesh Government.
Under this scheme, financial assistance will be provided for widows and single women to construct houses.

The Section 5(4) of the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961 allows woman who adopts a child at the age below three months old to be entitled for 12 weeks of maternity leave.
The Supreme Court has recently agreed to hear a petition challenging this provision.

‘Icaronycteris gunnelli’ is the oldest known bat species found in the Fossil Lake deposits of the Green River Formation of Wyoming in the United States.
The extinct species had lived in North America some 52 million years ago.

The Atacama Cosmology Telescope (ACT) is a 6-meter diameter telescope situated in Chile’s Cerro Toco in the Atacama Desert.
It was used to create a detailed map of dark matter, which agrees with Einstein’s theory of gravity.

The Arcturus variant, also known as XBB.1.16, is a type of Omicron variant that is spreading in India. It is believed to be responsible for the surge in COVID-19 cases in India.
The surge is being monitored by the WHO as it has shown high infectivity and increased pathogenicity.

Union Tourism Minister G Krishan Reddy and Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar flagged off Bharat Gaurav Tourist train to mark the birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar from New Delhi.
Government has developed Panchteerth, five place associated with Dr Ambedkar. During the 8-day tour, the train will cover cities including, New Delhi, Mhow, Nagpur, Varanasi and sacred Buddhist sites like Sanchi, Sarnath, Gayaand Rajgir and Nalanda.
