The Spring Annual Meetings of IMF- World Bank will be held on April 10 at IMF Headquarters in Washington DC.
The meeting will be attended by finance ministers and central banks from across the world.

As per the latest data released by National Statistical Office (NSO), the share of respiratory infections in deaths caused by communicable diseases rose by 10 per cent to 78 per cent in 2021 from 68 per cent in 2020,
This means about four out of five deaths due to communicable diseases were caused by the respiratory ailments.

Teenaged Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh stunned former world rapid champion Nodirbek Abdusattorov of Uzbekistan in the final to win the World Chess Armageddon Asia & Oceania.
The 16-year-old Indian won in a field that included former world classical champion Vladimir Kramnik, Daniil Dubov, Yangyi Yu (China), Vidit Gujrathi and Karthikeyan Murali (both India) and Param Maghsoodloo (Iran), apart from Abdusattorov.

The Zojila Tunnel, which would be Asia’s longest tunnel once completed, is being constructed in Jammu & Kashmir to establish all weather connectivity for Ladakh. 19 tunnels are being constructed in Jammu and Kashmir at a cost of Rs.25000 crore, of which the major one is the Zojila Tunnel.
With the construction of this 14.15 km tunnel, there will be all-weather connectivity for Ladakh, which will cut down travel time to cross the Zojila Pass from three hours to 20 minutes.

The state cabinet of Madhya Pradesh has decided to implement the Madhya Pradesh State Millet Mission scheme. The duration of the scheme will be of two years (2023-24 and 2024-25) with an expenditure of over Rs 23 crore.
The scheme will be implemented in all the districts through the Director, Farmers’ Welfare and Agriculture Development.

Nicobari hut, locally known as ‘chanvi-pati-nyi hupul’ is famed for its unique eco-friendly design and earth-quake resistant construction. It is set to receive geographical indication (GI) tag.
Earlier the GI tag for traditional ‘ hodi’, an outrigger canoe was given to the region. It has an inverted helmet-shaped hut with wood and palm fronds, which maintains a pleasant temperature despite the hot and humid tropical climate of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The huts are also earthquake resistant.

The Rule 3(1)(II)(A) and (C) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Amendment Rules, 2023 allows the Central Government to set up a fact checking unit.
There are concerns regarding its role in preventing free speech online.

Cassiopeia A is a supernova remnant situated in Cassiopeia constellation. It was nicknamed the Green Monster in honour of Fenway Park in Boston.
The remnants of this supernova was captured with high detail by the James Webb Space Telescope.

The Section 5(4) of the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961 allows woman who adopts a child at the age below three months old to be entitled for 12 weeks of maternity leave.
The Supreme Court has recently agreed to hear a petition challenging this provision.

The Digidog is a robot dog that was reintroduced by the NYPD recently after being discontinued nearly two years ago.
It was criticised due to its resemblance to the fictitious dystopian killer robot dog that was shown in a Black Mirror episode. The new devices also include a GPS tracker for stolen cars and a cone-shaped security robot.
