The European Union parliament has recently approved the ‘Markets in Crypto Act’. The new legislation seeks to minimize risks for consumers buying crypto assets and ensure the regulation of the cryptocurrency.
The rules will impose requirements on crypto platforms, token issuers and traders around transparency, disclosure, authorization, and supervision of transactions.

The Ice Sheet Mass Balance Intercomparison Exercise (IMBIE) issues regular reviews of the state of the planet’s ice sheets.
It is supported by the US and European space agencies. As per the scientists, mass loss from Greenland and Antarctica is now responsible for a quarter of all sea-level rise.

The state government of Kerala launched the Safe Kerala Project to minimize the number of on-road accidents and prevent traffic violations in the state.
As part of this project, Artificial Intelligence-based cameras will be used to identify traffic violations and impose fines.

As per the Hurun’s Global Unicorn Index, India has retained its 3rd spot as the country with the highest number of unicorns worldwide.
With 68 new unicorns, India lags behind the US and China, which have 666 and 316 unicorns, respectively. India added 14 new unicorns since the pandemic began, but none of the start-ups made it to the top 10.  According to the report, BYJU’s is the top-most unicorn in India, with a valuation of USD 22 billion, followed by Swiggy and Dream11.

Octopus chierchiae, also known as the lesser Pacific striped octopus, is a unique octopus species that is being proposed as a model organism for cephalopod research due to its ability to lay multiple egg clutches.
A new study published in PLOS One has revealed that the Pygmy zebra octopus has a unique and permanent stripe pattern that can help experts and non-experts monitor them in their habitat.

‘National Panchayati Raj Day’ is celebrated every year on April 24. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj in collaboration with the state Government of Madhya Pradesh is commemorating National Panchayati Raj Day in Madhya Pradesh as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav – Samaaveshi Vikaas (Inclusive Development).
The Prime Minister was the Chief Guest at the national function.

Indiahandmade Portal was launched by the Union Textiles Ministry to promote handicrafts and handlooms sector.
This e-commerce portal will enable artisans to directly sell to the customers without middlemen. The Union Minister of Textiles Piyush Goyal launched the portal in Gujarat.
