A team of researchers from Hong Kong have discovered a new species of box jellyfish in Mai Po Nature Reserve. This is said to be first discovery of the venomous species in China’s waters.
The jelly fist is named Tripedalia maipoensis. It has a cube-shaped, colourless body with 24 eyes, three tentacles up to 10 cm long which resemble boat paddles. It is said to swim faster than other kinds of jellyfish.

Rongali Festival is a 4-day festival which showcases ethnical diversity, creativity and entrepreneurship is held in Guwahati, Assam. This year marks the 7^th edition of the festival and is held from April 20 to 23.
The festival aims to promote the unique culture of Assam through a series of events and activities.

The Indian Government has invited Expression of Interest (EOI) for the development of hydrogen valley innovation clusters (HVIC) in the country.
According to the DST guidelines, a hydrogen valley is a specific geographic region where hydrogen serves more than one end sector or application.

‘Vote from Home’ Initiative was introduced for the first time in the Karnataka Assembly Elections by the Election Commission of India.
This procedure was chosen by around 8,900 persons who are above 80 years old or people with disabilities in Bengaluru.

A new study has found that a protein called shugosin locks the chromosomes into X shapes to give them their structure.
The protein’s function is to maintain the stability of chromosomes during cell division. Also called as SGO1, this protein fits precisely into a sort of keyhole which gives the chromosome its X shape.

The European Union parliament has recently approved the ‘Markets in Crypto Act’. The new legislation seeks to minimize risks for consumers buying crypto assets and ensure the regulation of the cryptocurrency.
The rules will impose requirements on crypto platforms, token issuers and traders around transparency, disclosure, authorization, and supervision of transactions.

As per the Hurun’s Global Unicorn Index, India has retained its 3rd spot as the country with the highest number of unicorns worldwide.
With 68 new unicorns, India lags behind the US and China, which have 666 and 316 unicorns, respectively. India added 14 new unicorns since the pandemic began, but none of the start-ups made it to the top 10.  According to the report, BYJU’s is the top-most unicorn in India, with a valuation of USD 22 billion, followed by Swiggy and Dream11.

The Caribbean Community, with 15 member states from across the Americas and Atlantic Ocean, is a political and economic union founded in 1973.

Kesavananda Bharati Case is a landmark case where the Supreme Court defined the basic structure of the Indian Constitution. The judgement for this case was delivered on April 24, 1973.
The case is also known as the Fundamental Rights Case. The Supreme Court asserted its right to strike down amendments to the constitution that were in violation of the fundamental architecture of the constitution.

The National Technology Centre for Ports Waterways and Coasts (NTCPWC) was inaugurated at the Discovery Campus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, by Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
The new research facility will serve as a knowledge centre for students, the industry and academicians.
