Rupee was devaluated in 1949 also. It is incorrect to say that Indian Rupee has been devalued only for two times.
When India became a member of IMF Rupee was tied to Pound. On 18 September, 1949 Pound devalued and India to maintain par with pound, got Rupee devalued by 30.5 % as a defensive measure consequent to the devaluation by other 'sterling area' countries. This was on 19 September 1949.
