India exported 7 metric tonnes of value-added flavoured Makhana from Darbhanga in Bihar to Canada on 29 July 2026. The shipment moved through Mundra Port in two containers and was processed and packaged by Nutrivin Agro Private Limited for ZKV Foods in Canada.

Makhana as an Agricultural Product

Makhana is also known as fox nuts and is obtained from the seeds of the aquatic plant Euryale ferox. Bihar accounts for the largest share of Makhana production in India, and the crop is associated with the Mithila region, including Darbhanga and nearby districts.
